Donut Fans!
I knew Krispy Kreme were going to bring out some Easter donuts. This year it seems to be the year of the Easter Egg donuts. There are three to choose from. Needless to say, I had to get in all three! I’m going to start off with ’The Egg-splosion’ . It has to be done as this is the one that mostly resembles an egg. Just look at it! I can’t wait to tell you all about it.

I saw the advert for this and I loved the fact that the centre had a white and a yolk. I couldn’t wait to try it. It was first on my list of ones to taste. This donut has a lovely smooth chocolate coating and it has a nice pattern of white and yellow icing on top, although the donuts in the cabinets don’t look anything like the picture pattern wise. The one I had and the others in the store had more of a quick squiggle rather than a proper easter egg design that you would normally find on a chocolate egg. Anyhow, I took a few bites into the donut and I was pleased to see it had the yellow fondant yolk in the middle of the white kreme. I would have preferred more filling. Don’t get me wrong, there was filling in there, but from experience, normally you have more and I thought there would have been more given the fact there were two fillings in this donut. Taste wise, I really struggled to find the flavour of the yolk. The white kreme was very fluffy and that tasted of Krispy Kreme’s signature kreme filling which to me tastes like vanilla. The yolk though. It did have a flavour to it, but I couldn’t tell you what it was. Maybe it’s just ’fondant flavoured?’ I don’t know. It definitely wasn’t fruit flavoured, but now I think of it, maybe they could have made this mango or passion fruit flavour. I think this would have taken this donut to another level.
This donut was nice and it kept me on my toes trying to figure out the yolk flavour. I have never eaten a donut so slowly and batting my lips and tongue together to work out flavours. At least it stopped me from devouring it so easily!
