Here it is. The finale of Krispy Kreme’s Valentines collection. I think I have saved the best for last. I mean, just look at that face. How can you resist such a thing?
Krispy Kreme - Smiley Heart
”With a strawberry and kreme filling, our cute heart is hand dipped in strawberry icing and decorated with sugar hearts.”
Ahh… look at that smiley face and those little red cheeks. It’s just too cute! The icing was so smooth on this. Looked really pretty. The icing did taste a little bit like strawberry milkshake, but once I got into the centre, the taste changed for the better. Inside was the white Kreme filling and it had the strawberry sauce / jam inside. The filling was really silky. The combination of the strawberry filling and the kreme really made it taste like strawberries and cream. It was a delight.
This is the third strawberry donut from Krispy Kreme. I’m not against strawberry donuts so long as they taste like strawberry and not strawberry milkshake or a fake strawberry taste. Anyway, that aside, you gotta love a heart shaped donut. I’m glad this donut didn’t taste fake. The last thing you want is a donut where there is style over substance. I was a little bit underwhelmed when I smelled the donut, but as soon as I got into it, it changed my mind completely. Yes I did have to go in for a few more of these before they disappeared off the shelves for good. I mean, the smile alone just brightens up your day. I hope Krispy Kreme bring this one back. Maybe they could even attempt at a chocolate smiley? I bet that would be really nice too.
