Good Afternoon Donut Fans!
Can you believe it’s been well over a month, almost two months since I last had a Krispy Kreme to write about? I finally managed to get my hands on their Original Filled Speculoos. These came out at the beginning of this month and they were like gold dust! I just couldn’t find anywhere that stocked them. Thankfully I got my hands on one yesterday as from tomorrow, they are gone!
Krispy Kreme - Original Filled Speculoos

I’m not sure where the name came from for this donut. It doesn’t really say anything about the donut or what you are getting. This donut is essentially an Original Glazed ring filled with a caramelised biscuit kreme with a caramel sauce decoration. The caramel sauce is sticky and you kind of get the flavour of caramel. The donut is definitely an Original Glazed as that;s all you can taste. I did have filling in my donut, but I think I could have done with some more as it was difficult to differentiate the flavour of the Original Glazed donut and the kreme filling. When I did concentrate hard enough, I was able to find the flavour of the kreme. It’s essentially the same kreme as to what they put in their Lotus Biscoff donut. So I definitely wouldn’t recommend buying both together.
Overall it was a nice donut, but I would say if you want that biscuit flavour, go for the Lotus Biscoff and get yourself an Original Glazed donut. I think I would have preferred an Original Glazed over this as the kreme did make the donut feel heavy and stodgy. I didn’t have much kreme in it either. A bit disappointing considering I waited so long to get one.
