I had two small green balls once hat I planted in one pot. They grew and grew and bloomed and then I repotted them to separate pots last year.
I decided to keep them in different spot to see which one will grow better. One skipped blooming completely, the other one had just two flowers. Later on I got a seed pod too and the sowed what I got. I have few tiny babies growing too. I will keep them in one pot to get a nice bush of flowers when they are ready to bloom.
This year they both bloomed, even though they still have slightly different conditions.

It is a small cactus native to Bolivia. With time it is will grow to a nice clump - mine doesnt show any sigh of that yet though.
The flowers grow from the bottom of the plant are very bright orange and stay open for a few days. They bloom only once a ear in spring. After that the plant will grow and get ready for the next season.
As I mentioned I did get some seeds last year. I just don't know if they self pollinate, or some cross happened as I do normally have other cacti in bloom in the same time. It will take at lest two more years to see some flowers. If I don't kill them until them that is.
Here are both plants. The one on the left in a round pot gets more sun. The flowers are smaller and have sshorted stem.
The one on the right is more shaded - the flowers is longer and slightly bigger.
Both plants grew few buds this year.
They will need a bigger pot for next year. I will keep them as they are this season so they are not dusturbed and before next spring I will repot them to something bigger.
