I fancied moving away from sweet and moved onto savoury. My husband is obsessed with crisps. He bought these the other day and tucked into them last night. I was intrigued by the flavour, so I decided to have a handful too.
Kettle Chips Rosemary & Sea Salt
”Hand cooked in Norfolk. British potato chips. Absolutely nothing artificial.
Enjoy the heady aroma of the great British herb garden with rosemary & sea salt"
What I like about Kettle Chips is that they really do have that hand cooked flavour. They aren’t greasy like some other crisps. I have never seen sea salt and rosemary flavoured crisps before. Only sea salt flavours. I can’t recall ever seeing rosemary flavoured crisps. Anyway, before I take a handful, I take a sniff of the opened bag. It smelled alright. It did smell very herby and savoury. I thought these were going to be an interesting flavour. Interesting they were! These crisps had so much rosemary flavour in them, they tasted a bit perfumery. I only ate about three crisps. Then I had had enough. About 30 mins later, I wanted something savoury, so I went back in. I had a few more crisps. They weren’t as perfumery as before, but they were sooooo salty!!! I know it’s meant to be salty, but this was far too much. Just not right at all!
I can’t say I will have these again. They were wrong on so many levels. Normally I like the new flavours Kettle Chips have. This was not one of them. If you like your salt, then go for it. If you don’t… steer clear! Honestly… maybe lamb and rosemary would have worked better or at least some sort of meaty / poultry flavour, but not sea salt. I’m going to give these a miss.
