Art Talk: Mille Fiori

For 6 months I have been going to the Desert Botanical Garden regularly. Now I want to share pictures of pieces from Chihuly in the Desert that I took in the gallery.

Mille Fiori (Italian for "a thousand flowers) demonstrates Chihuly's penchant for organic, free-flowing forms that evoke the natural world. Chihulys affinity is rooted in his early childhood memories. His mother kept an immaculate garden where Chihuly often immersed himself in the beautiful, natural forms of rhododendrons and azaleas, a continued source of inspiration for his world and the Fiori series.

This is a very impressive piece with the purples, gold, breens and black glass set against the black walls.

It is also very interesting to have the glass under the sculpture giving it more dimension and variety.

One of my favorite things about Chihuly's art is that I can look at it over and over and see and discover new things each time.
