Random Movies From 2006

The Matrix Trilogy blew my mind away. I'm talking about the first three films which I watched for the first time at somebody's house in South Carolina around Thanksgiving in November of 2006. The biggest thing that caught my attention was the futuristic science fiction aspects presented. It's kind of like The Wizard of Oz but with robots instead of wizards and a virtual reality world instead of a silly curtain.

The wizard told Dorothy not to look at the silly little man behind the curtain. Neil Patrick Harris said recently in the 4th film of the series that people don't want to look behind the Matrix curtain, they want to be slaves, ruled, governed, fucked. Wow. Why would you even say that? Well, it's true that too many people are slaves. They put on their slave masks.

Random Movies

Here is a list of some random movies I saw that year. I may have seen some of movies that year or after that. I may have seen older movies (from previous years) that year as well. I may have seen some of these films in theater or elsewhere. This list may not be complete or entirely accurate. Most of the dates on this list are of when these movies premiered in U.S. theaters. I may not always know exactly when I saw some of these movies.

Fearless

2006-01-26 - Thursday - U.S. theatrical premiere

A fun Jet Li martial arts film that I eventually saw somewhere but not sure what year. Universal released the full 140-minute director's cut on DVD in North America in July 2008. Perhaps that means I did not see the movie before 2008.

Underworld: Evolution

2006-01-20 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I've not seen this American action horror film set in 1202 A.D. It involves vampires. There is a werewolf. So, kind of like Buffy and Angel and Twilight but different.

High School Musical - I probably didn't see much of this until Revolution Hawaii 2007-2008.

Aquamarine

2006-03-03 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

Not sure when I saw it. Funny cute mermaid tale turned into a comedy film with teenagers in like Australia.

V for Vendetta

2006-03-17 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I eventually saw this, probably before 2010. It made an impact on my life. Very relevant to life and especially to me being redpilled more so in the 2010s.

Ice Age 2: The Meltdown

2006-03-31 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I'm not sure when or where I saw this but I think I saw it and I think I've some of the other Ice Age films over the years too. This one is pretty good.

Mission: Impossible III

2006-05-05 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I probably saw it after it came out on DVD on the 30th of October 2006. But not sure which year I saw this. Well, I've seen some of these Tom Cruise movies but I don't always keep track of all of it. But I enjoy the music, the tension, Tom, the series in general, the action, the danger. It's kind of like James Bond starring that guy from Top Gun.

Over the Hedge

2006-05-19 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I think I first saw this at ABC 2006-2007. Starring William Shatner, Bruce Willis, Steve Carell, Wanda Sykes. It's a fun silly animated film. I don't have a lot of memories of this movie. I don't know exactly when or where I saw this movie but I do remember the characters and possibly a few of the scenes vaguely. At the time, I didn't realize there were so many celebrities doing the voices like Die Hard star Bruce Willis or Captain Kirk from Stark Trek for example.

The Da Vinci Code

2006-05-19 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

The film was released on DVD on November 14, 2006. I probably saw it after that and before like 2008 for the first time. I found it to be very interesting. I saw it because Tom Hanks was in it. I was always a sucker for anything Tom Hanks since I started watching his movies in the 1990s. But the movie is interesting as it brings to life that Dan Brown book by the same name. I'm saying Dan is right in what he wrote but I do find it a bit entertaining as I'm also a sucker for mystery, Sherlock Holmes, Criminal Minds, etc.

X-Men 3: The Last Stand

2006-05-26 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I've seen bits and pieces of this movie over the years. This is the film where that red-hair lady, Jean Grey, crazy spoiler alert, destroys Patrick Stewart (Captain Picard from Star Trek) who played the leader of the mutants, Charles Xavier. That death scene is mind blowing.

Cars

2006-06-09 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

If I didn't see it in theaters, then I most likely saw it during movie night at ABC in 2006 or 2007. Cars is a fun cartoon movie about talking cars. It is pretty fun to watch with the whole family.

Nacho Libre

2006-06-16 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

Not sure when I saw this cleaver comedy sports drama Jack Black movie. I think I had fun watching it.

The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift

Wendy Wu: Homecoming Warrior - silly live-action Disney teen Kung Fu comedy movie

Click

2006-06-23 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I probably saw this before 2013. Adam Sandler plays a father with a remote which lets him fast-forward through life. Be careful what you wish for. I recommend this movie. A great life lesson kind of movie with a good moral to the story that anybody can relate to.

Superman Returns

2006-06-28 - Wednesday - U.S. theatrical premiere

Not sure when I saw this movie but it was exciting.

Pirates of the Caribbean 2: Dead Man's Chest

2006-07-07 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I started seeing bits and pieces of these Jack Sparrow movies early on. The first one I saw in theaters was the third film in 2007. Dead Man's Chest is the second film of the franchise. I believe I ended up going back to watch through all of the Pirates of the Caribbean films but I forget exactly when. But in general, I'm a big fan of the Jack Sparrow character and the entire lore the series is set in. Yeah, some of it might be silly and that is probably why I like it so much. It's fun. It's exciting.

Little Miss Sunshine

2006-07-26 - Wednesday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I don't have any memories of watching this silly inspirational rated R Steve Carell movie but I think I heard that it was a funny movie. The dancing part is worth watching even if it ended with them in jail like Seinfeld. Well, they were let out.

2006-08-04 - Friday - Barnyard is a silly cartoon film starring cows and other farm animals

The Illusionist

2006-08-18 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I probably saw this movie in 2006 or 2007. It was a shocking movie. You know, I most likely saw it during Christmas 2006 or Thanksgiving of that year. Well, I don't have a lot of memories of this movie. I actually am not totally sure which year I saw this, maybe 2006, 2007, or maybe even 2008. I saw it and I thought it was a little interesting.

Snakes on a Plane - Samuel L. Jackson

Open Season

2006-09-29 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

Not sure when I saw this movie but it is a fun animated movie featuring a big cute bear (voiced by Martin Lawrence) and an equally cute woman (Debra Messing of Will & Grace). It's a silly comedy film. It's fun to watch.

The Departed

2006-10-06 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I forget when or where I saw bits and pieces of this pretty thrilling all-star casted live-action crime drama film. It stars Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson, Mark Wahlberg, Martin Sheen, Ray Winstone, Vera Farmiga, Alec Baldwin.

Man of the Year

2006-10-13 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I saw this movie with family at Karen's house during Thanksgiving of 2018. We were over there from around Wednesday to like Saturday, around four or so days around that last week of November. Thanksgiving is the last or second to last week of November each year generally. I wrote down the dates, see the links for more details as to when we were in Oregon for that trip. We might have watched it Wednesday night. But then again, I don't remember. That year or the next year or another time, I think I saw the Chris Rock version which is similar to this movie.

One Night with the King

2006-10-13 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

The story of Esther in the Bible. Not sure when I saw it.

2006-11-17 - Tuesday - Casino Royale - James Bond film

The Prestige

2006-10-20 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I saw it on video at somebody's house or at Camp Kuratli in 2007 or maybe 2008. Most likely in 2007. I was intrigued by the plot twist at the end. I believe he had a twin brother and that is how he was able to do the magic tricks. The reveal, spoiler alert, happens at the end. There is an all-star cast of actors in this movie. Not just Christian Bale (Batman, Newsies) is in it. Scarlett Johansson is in it.

Happy Feet

2006-11-27 - Wednesday - U.S. theatrical premiere

Not sure when I saw this silly cartoon Robin Williams movie. I think it has a lot of animals, singing, dancing, jokes.

The Matrix Trilogy

2006-11-22 - Wednesday - I saw them during Thanksgiving Break

I first saw Matrix, all three films back to back, at Jasper Swaney's house in South Carolina during Thanksgiving Break 2006. I forget Jasper's exact last name, something like Swaney and not Sweeney Todd of Johnny Depp. So, I watched the movies with subtitles and was studying it as I was watching them. I was very intrigued and enjoyed watch Neo fight Smith in each of those first three films. I love the Matrix lore.

Déjà Vu - Denzel Washington, Val Kilmer

2006-12-08 - Friday - Apocalypto - Mel Gibson

2006-12-12 - Tuesday - The Fox and the Hound 2 - direct to DVD. I've not seen it but my younger sister would watch the first film (1981) in the 1990s.

The Pursuit of Happyness

2006-12-15 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

Will Smith plays a struggling dad. He has work hard to take care of his son. He probably loses his job and then has to find a new one. In the end, he gets a promotion at work and works his way up. I cried. It's motivational. If I didn't see it in theaters, then I must have seen it somewhere in 2007 or 2008 is my guess.

Dreamgirls starring Jamie Foxx, Beyoncé Knowles, Eddie Murphy, Danny Glover, Anika Noni Rose, Keith Robinson, Jaleel White (Steve Urkel), Jennifer Hudson

Charlotte's Web

2006-12-20 - Wednesday - Letters from Iwo Jima - Clint Eastwood

Night at the Museum

2006-12-22 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

I saw the movie after it came out on DVD. It came out on DVD in the U.S. on the 24th of April of 2007. This movie stars Ben Stiller, Carla Gugino, Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney, Bill Cobbs, Robin Williams. I probably first saw it while I was at ABC which means before June of 2007.

The Good Shepherd

2006-12-22 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

Matt Damon is in the Skull & Bones but wife Angelina Jolie has no idea about. Kind of like in Mr. & Mrs. Smith where they don't that they are both spies and end up spying on each other. In this movie, she doesn't know what her husband does. You know, I didn't watch that movie. Maybe I should watch it because it deals with real secret societies.

We Are Marshall

2006-12-22 - Friday - U.S. theatrical premiere

A college football team died in a plane crash. Matthew McConaughey becomes the new coach. The movie came out on DVD on September 18, 2007. I don't remember exactly when or where I saw it.

U.S. Theatrical Premiere

The dates I've provided here for U.S. theater premieres are from Wikipedia. I've listed these dates to help me know a general ballpark as to when I might have seen some of these movies in the big screen. Movies would play in the cinema for three months or less, generally speaking. A lot of movies stay in theaters for no more than a month. Many of the movies would come out on VHS video or DVD within a year after their theatrical release. Some of them come out on video within as little as three to six months sometimes. Some movies are released direct to video and are not shown in theaters.

Random

I included random movies, some which I may have seen and some which I may not have seen that year or any year to date. Not every movie may be listed. I may have watched older movies from previous years during this year as well. This is basically a rough draft outline of a few movies from this year. I've included notes to reminded myself of when I may have seen some of these films. So, some of these movies I may have seen not that year but in following years after that.
