#TreeTuesday - Stalwart Sentinels

There I was, sitting underneath this tree in 30/90 degree sun, appreciating the fact that the only reason I was not bursting into flames was this tree. This must be why all those folks on #hive have so much appreciation for trees and post on Tuesdays in their honour.

Then, after seeing our buddy @dswigle post @dswigle/a-little-bit-of-tree-on-tuesday, I decided to harvest some of the trees I have spent time with this month.

This battalion of wooden warriors has stood guard over this pool for an age. The neat mix of soft an hardwood, pine and birch mingling and providing shade for the trailers at their knees. Not old growth forest but definitely respectable.

This procession lines the difference between the 10th and 11th hole on our favourite golf course. They pose as decorations for those who would drive true and live on the fairway. for the rest of us, they shake their fists and bend to grab the balls of the slicers and hookers.

It was #TreeTuesday that occurred to me when I had set up camp, unfolded a chair and took a breather by the fire while looking skyward. How the trees reach for the center of the frame is not lost on me as I appreciate the shelter and company of them as wilderness.

As stewards of the land, we can celebrate our community among theirs. Surely humanity could be seen as the mortal enemy of the tree. In truth, we are our own worse enemy and the trees will surely have the last laugh. Still, the situational harmony of sharing company with the trees is surely divine.

The texture of this armor, filled with faces and gleaming in the midday sun, caught my eye. Surprisingly not monochromatic when you detect the yellows, mimicking the toughness and texture of granite. Well equipped to survive the harshest winter and oppressive summer.

How many harvest moons have these revellers drank in? Seemingly unconcerned with any lunar anomaly, only seeking the night after a long day under the sun.

Have they forgiven us for paving our way with their bones or are they simply biding their time? Perhaps it is no consequence to them and they appreciate the company too.

Thank you again new friend for the 45 minutes of filtered sunlight on a sublime Sunday. Strong enough to shield me from the blazing center of our solar system and asking nothing in return but to spare the axe. A respectful truce and my gratitude for the kind shelter.

Thanks for having me on #TreeTuesday. Take some pics of trees in your neck of the woods and share them with @dswigle and yours truly and all those who celebrate trees on the blockchain.

Wouldn't be right for a card-carrying hoser to sign of without a big slice of aptly named Canadiana.
