Moonshine - A Gouache + Watercolor Painting

The bird here is the Eastern Yellow Robin! It’s pure yellow feathers are a delight to the eyes! I you can find the bird in Australia. A yellow bird was a must for this series, so I’m glad I painted the robin. I imagined a cute bird resting at the tip of one’s nose, with the moon’s light illuminating the yellow feathers of the bird.

PROCESS!

Materials : Reeves Gouache paint, Winsor & Newton Watercolor and brushes, Staedtler pencils

I sketched out the girl and the bird, I wasn’t too sure what to place in the background here, so I left it.

Next, I painted in the background and the first layer of color for the bird

I made quite the mistake in terms of picking the right shade of red/pink that would have gone better with the yellow on the bird. In the next painting I’ll be sure to test the colors out first!
