If you have been following my blog for some time, you know that my knowledge about cars between the two World Wars is rather limited 😀. But it's a pleasure to learn especially with cars of this quality. So please be indulgent if there are some gaps, and don't hesitate to leave comments to fill in.

History of Bugatti Type 35

line_hive.jpg

The Bugatti Type 35 was a racing car produced between 1924 and 1930. It was a huge success on the tracks with over 1,000 victories in all competitions (Grand Prix World Championship in 1926, Targa Florio five years in row from 1925...) Type 35s averaged 14 race wins per week (source : wiki) 😮. Ettore Bugatti had established an incredible reputation for his racing cars with great performance.

The first Type 35 was presented during the Grand Prix of Lyon in 1924, evolution of the Type 29.

"The Bugatti Type 35 is one of the icons of Bugatti’s rich history and tradition. Back in 1924, the sports car was unparalleled in its technology, design and performance and the same still goes today. It's both an inspiration and a commitment.Stephan Winkelmann, President of Bugatti (source : Bugatti.com).

The final version of the series, the Type 35TC aka Type 35B, was introduced in 1927 with 2.3 litre supercharged engine. Only 45 examples were produced.

This example was originally assembled in the 70's with as many original parts as possible and a reproduction coachwork done by Alan Wragg. A restoration in 1991 made it possible to complete the car with additionnal original components. Beautiful example, we see the passion of the owners in the quality of the work done on this car.

I like the gauges 👍

The engine looks like a sculpture that could be in a museum 😀

Being behind the wheel of this car must be a unique and incredible experience. Do you see it in your garage?
