As you could see in my previous post, a lot of great cars during the Amelia Island sale through RM Sotheby's and this 1967 Maserati Ghibli 4.7 Coupé is no exception with this stunning coachwork done by the Italian automobile design firm Ghia.
With an estimated price of $ US160,000, this Maserati is the first version produced with its low and long recognizable nose. Very attractive design...
If you want to see other cars sold during this event, here's a follow-up :

History of Maserati Ghibli
The Maserati Ghibli was presented as a prototype during the Turin Motor show in 1966. It was named after a hot wind of the Libyan desert and not and not because of a famous Japanese anime studio (sorry... 😀). This Ghibli Coupé was the first version, a V8 Grand Tourer produced between 1966 and 1973.
And just for information because these cars are rather ugly :
- the second version a coupé of 90's,
- and the third and current version.
It was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro working at Carrozzeria Ghia (again... he was also behind the design of the BMW M1 my post about this car). A beautiful and sleek design... And only for the pleasure of the eyes, here the Spyder version owned originally by the royal family of Qatar :

Maserati produced 1,170 Ghibli and Ghibli SS (with a 4.9 V8 engine). The car becomes one of the best Italian automobiles of its times with the **Lamborghini Miura **and the Ferrari 365 GTB/4 Daytona Berlinetta.
Specification
The Maserati Ghibli 4.7 is equipped with 4.7-liter dual-overhead-cam dry sump V-8 engine with quad carburetors producing 310 hp. It can reach a top speed of 264 kmh / 164 mph. As for the Ghibli SS with its 4,930 cc V8, it's producing 335 hp for a top speed of 280 kmh.
This example was fully restored, engine and coachwork finished in Giallo Fly over black leather interior. Pure beauty...
What do you think of this beauty ?
For me, this is Maserati at its best... nothing to do with the following models which are also called Ghibli.
