It Feels Good to Give Something Back

Some friends brought home many pumpkins and we had already bought some too. So, we didn't know what to do with them. We decided that as many people have been helping us with many things we needed to face my illness, it was time to do something for them to be thankful. There are many people who have helped us, but we can't reach all of them because they live in another countries or places far from my home.

I went to the market to buy some pumpkins with my son and we selected the most colorful. We decided to make some cakes and sweets to show our gratitude to our friends and even to people we don't know who were so generous with us. When we got back home we found more pumpkins on the table that someone brought for me.

We planned to make pumpkin cakes to take advantage of all the quantities of pumpkin we had at home, and we went to buy the plastic containers where we were going to serve them. We found good prices, the rest of all we needed to prepare the cakes was at home. I have published pumpkin cake before that's why I am not giving the recipe here Pumpkin cake with spices.

I remained awake until 2 o'clock in the morning peeling the pumpkins. It was tiring, but I was motivated by the fact that I was going to share them. My son Joseph and my grandson Alexander cut them in tiny pieces and cooked them. The rest was to prepare a mixture of sugar, eggs, flour, milk and spices. We went to bed late because we have to wait until the cakes were cooked.

Next day in the morning the cakes were cut and placed in the plastic containers. They were really delicious and many friends could have one apart from the fact, that we have to keep some for the family. The smell invaded the whole house and that drove my family mad lol.
