Schwalbinger's vacation in Schleesingers youth hostel

Hello Hive Community :)!

Today you may meet Mr. Schwalbinger.

When Viktor was a few days old, one thing led to another and suddenly a friend with Mr. Schwalbinger stood in front of me :D.

Mr. Schwalbinger is a small House Martin, who chose a very unfavorable place for his first landing, namely a main road.

When the attentive observer, who brought me the bird, watched how 2 cars already dodged and he tunnelled one, he decided that the bird would be better off with me until he is completely fit.

Since there is also no bushes or the like in the vicinity, I think that was the right decision.

Mr. Schwalbinger was from the beginning a very sociable fellow, who was not afraid of contact, which was probably also due to the good Viktor :D.

To feed was beside flies of course again mealworms and also some crickets, one had to be squeezed into him, then the beak was open, he has only seen a finger xD.

With flying it was not particularly good at first, which is why he was allowed to take a seat next to the couch in the golden pothos, which he did not displease.

What further fascinated me was not only his quick bonding (30 minutes?^^) as well as his reaction to calls like gestures or even my mere presence, but also how he communicated to me whether he was thirsty or not.

After 3 or 4 tries he understood that water comes out of the syringe in front of his nose when he opens his beak. If he was thirsty, the syringe was half eaten, but if he wasn't, he shook his head in denial and took a step to the side :D.

It was also very interesting to see how he spread his wings and aligned them with the wind below when he grabbed onto my hand and I started walking around the apartment.

He begged for food pretty quickly and when he could fly reasonably, his feeding place was set up on a door, because it is wonderful to put newspaper under it.
Then you couldn't walk past him without being greeted and begged for food :D.

The sleeping place has shifted to the sorrow of the curtain onto it, but yea, you can wash it anyway :D.

When Viktor was a little more stable on his legs, i put him from time to time to his colleague Schwalbinger on the door, which led to some nice pictures, the two had liked each other :).

They certainly still do today, but Schwalbinger's flying skills had improved massively and he flew like an ace through the place. Besides, at some point the time comes when the swallows start to travel, so it makes sense for him to find a connection.

On a beautiful sunny day, when he was with me near water, he signaled to me that he would like to bathe (yes, birds do that!^^), whereupon I set up something for him on the terrace.

Hardly finished with his bath his look in the sky, where he had discovered other swallows. I think it took 2 seconds and a satisfied squeak, then he has turned a few laps in a circle and still a little twittered and has freshly bathed on the way to his fellow species in windy heights :).

Pictures of the bath I have unfortunately none, because I have rather watched the cats coming to eat, but on the following picture he should be seen somewhere xDD.

Always nice, interesting and instructive, when there are fosterlings in the house! In any case, he knows exactly where he can get something to eat or help if things get tight :).

Have a great time :)!
