This photo is my entry in the Qurator’s Photo Quest of this week, the topic is SIMILARITY. The rules of the contest can be read here.
What is the object in the photography? Well, it is a photo of balconies belonging to a block of flats. It was taken in a cold a very sunny winter morning in Vienna, some years ago. All of the balconies are alike, but seen at different scales due to the perspective. So I consider that it is a good example of the “similarity”.
I would like to emphasise that the concept of “similarity” plays a very important role in mathematics.
The camera used was a Sony DSC-R1 and the photo was edited using Gimp.
Con esta foto estoy participando en el concurso fotográfico de esta semana organizado por @qurator, cuyo tema es SIMILARITY, que se traduce como SEMEJANZA. Los reglas del concurso se encuentran en este enlace. ¿Cuál es el objeto de la fotografía? Es un grupo de balcones de un edificio de apartamentos. La foto fue tomada en una fría y soleada mañana de invierno en Viena, hace unos años atrás. Como se puede ver todos los balcones son semejantes pero se observan a diferentes escalas por la perspectiva. Por lo que considero que la foto representa bien el concepto del tema del concurso. Me gustaría enfatizar que la noción de semejanza juega un papel muy importante en matemáticas. La cámara utilizada fue una Sony DSC-R1 y Gimp el software de edición.
