I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but I spend a great deal of time in Ithaca, dashing food to and fro. Not a big fan of this little city with its two big colleges and very "liberal" point of view.
The quotes around that word are because liberal doesn't seem an appropriate label, though it is what they would call themselves. Pseudo hippies might fit better, or yuppy hipsters. Fake smiles- when you can see their faces- eye rolling so-called intellectual conversations in the trendy coffee shops and delis. Meaningless, trivial nonsense sprinkled with large words to make themselves sound important and intelligent.
And I realize as I write this, it's not the city that sours my stomach, it's the majority of people residing there. The buildings and streets are charming if I'm objective, and there are beautiful spots to relax in all over the place...
This is one of my favorites-
I come here to clean out my psyche,
to take a full deep breath of joy
to feel the breeze ruffle my hair and relax my mind.
I come here to remember hope exists,
Love is real and all around me
and there is still white magic in the world.
I come here to find my inspiration.
Off to find some additional inspiration in other Wednesday Walks around the globe :)
