Playing at the Berlin Freedom Dinner

Hey Hivers!

Over the weekend we were invited to perform at the Berlin Freedom Dinner hosted by VisitBerlin.de. Berlin's mayor Michael Mueller wanted to signal to the people that "Berlin is back" at the event, having endured a sustained period of lockdown the past months. Last year was the closing of the iconic Tegel Airport upon the completion of the Berlin-Brandenburg Airport after 10 years of construction. There has been much debate about how to make use of the large space now that the airport is no longer open, and thus this even took place on the runway. The tables were arranged in such a way that it spelled out "Berlin Loves You" from the air.

We were arranged on a large truck that had been converted into a mobile stage and driven onto the runway to perform for the people enjoying an evening of great food and entertainment. Overall the event was a smashing success, with more than 3000 people in attendance and excellent performances from different artists and musicians. Evenings like that remind us of why Berlin has such a special character.
