Weekly Statistics Review - Delegator Update

Hello Steemit!

Welcome to the Weekly Statistics Review for @tagalong! As a part of the transparency of this project, this post is designed to give current and potential delegators, as well as the community, an idea of what their delegation is doing to help better the Steemit community.

A reminder about @tagalong, this account is a community-run abuse fighting account targeting tag abuse specifically. It is manually curated with a goal of educating users about how to properly use the tag system. All flags from this account are done with the philosophy that if a person uses an incorrect tag to gain visibility, then any rewards represented from that tag should be nullified.

Here are the statistics of the @tagalong service for the week of October 19th - 25th, 2018.

Overall Success Rate (Tags Changed - No Flag)

42.50%

Best Singular Day - 10/25/2018

70% Success (7 tags changed, 3 flagged)

Worst Singular Day - 10/19/2018

12.50% Success (1 tag changed, 7 flagged)

Total Tags Changed

17 tags

$0.16 in rewards given

Total Posts Flagged

23 posts

$0.62 in rewards returned

Project Reception

In terms of user response, results are mixed. Many users politely ask for a reason the tags are marked and once given, will change the tags without any further conversation. Several users, often repeat offenders, have been very vocal against @tagalong and the injustice of being flagged.

Due to discretionary tactics in researching the accounts being flagged, @tagalong is in no present danger of being compromised and no action needs to be taken to protect the integrity of the account and the actions it takes.

Response to joining the curation team has been limited, though not for trying. New methods have been put in place to reward curators who alert us to posts that are mis-tagged but they have yet to be used. Visibility on this post would be helpful, if you have time to re-steem it or write your own explanation of this project and how to contribute.

Curators have noticed that the current system of proportional flagging currently hits harder on smaller users while barely affecting larger users. The primary possible solution to this is to adjust the system to remove a proportionate percentage of the total post rewards, rather than basing it on a percentage of VP used. However, in order for this to be effective overall more SP is necessary. Will continue to review the impact.

Next Week's Goals

  • Continued promotion and visibility of the project.
  • Recruiting new curators to assist in finding content.
  • Raising more funding to better combat tag abuse.
  • Cleaning up and specifying the scripted comments to be more helpful.

Thank you to everyone who supports the @tagalong initiative, your SP has been put to good use educating and correcting the widespread mis-use of the tagging system.

@tagalong will continue to function as normal, with End of Day Reports being posted whenever a primary administrator has time (usually at the end of a day on which action has been taken).
