Greetings dear readers who make life in this prestigious platform, this time I want to share with you a topic that perhaps on many occasions we have lived in our homes or close to it. In this particular case I refer to the use of video games by children or adolescents in our environment, the question is whether or not they are harmful to the education of infants.

INTRODUCTION

We currently live in a society where technology is available to children from a very early age and perhaps this from the point of view of society is good, however we must be more critical about the issue, since technology is not bad as long as it is handled in a supervised manner and that is where the problem of society lies. Sometimes it is easier to let the child or adolescent spend as much time as possible entertained or playing a video game so that he/she does not give us anything to do, in other words, so that he/she will not be interrupted.

Now, it is of a healthy whole to play so much time with their electronic tools, whether these Tablet, desktop or laptop computer, phones, among others, in the topic that I will develop below we will study a little the advantages and disadvantages of the use of video games, since according to the government of China since 2019, has established certain restrictions regarding the use of the same, taking as reference that with this they want to avoid addiction to games and are taking care of the mental health of young people.

VIDEO GAMES ADVANTAGES AND DISADVANTAGES

Video games are interactive applications that provide entertainment to their users, through certain commands and controls that allow them to simulate unique and different experiences to those who play them. There is a great diversity of these video games that undoubtedly can generate certain interactions to individuals, but at the same time affect them positively and negatively..

These video games can help children to relate a little more with other people around them, since while they are playing they are interacting with other young people about the strategies of the game, the avatars they represent and at the same time talking about their plans for the next few days.

Similarly, games can also be used as analgesic therapies, since in some hospitals they have been implemented as support and rehabilitation in the treatment of certain diseases. However, we can not only use them in people suffering from any disease, but can also be of great benefit to children in their teaching-learning process, as they can help improve memory, language, attention and reading comprehension, among other skills.

All these benefits can be achieved, as long as video games are used at an appropriate age, with a responsible title and, of course, with proper supervision and time limitation..

On the contrary, the World Health Organization (WHO), in 2019 included a disease called video game use disorder, as a consequence of the excessive use of video games by children and adolescents in general without the corresponding supervision of their parents or guardians in charge.

Sometimes video games become a tool for the education of young people, because when parents are busy with other activities (work, responsibilities or occupations) and neglect their children, they end up filling with games those emotional and affective gaps due to the lack of affection and attention from their parents.

They can also affect the student performance of children, awaken in them characteristics of violence, depression, anxiety and abstinence, and when video games are not played in a group it can influence their socialization with other people of their age.

FINAL CONSIDERATIONS

Based on the question that started the development of this topic, it can be concluded that the supervised use of video games can provide certain benefits at the educational level as long as they are oriented for this purpose and there is responsible supervision of their tutors towards the children. Likewise, it is important to highlight that nothing in excess is healthy for the integral health of the players because that is where the problem of the serious negative effects that can affect not only the players but also their families lies.

It is important to balance the advantages and disadvantages that these interactive activities can leave in our children and adolescents and in this way be able to give a responsible use to them, since I am particularly of the group of people who believe that the absence of supervision of these games in our children and family generate in them damage that can become irreversible in the future if they are not detected and treated in time.

Thank you in advance for taking the time to read my work and if you have any comments to make I will gladly read and respond to them in the corresponding section.
