At first I was attracted to Gael Garcia Bernal in the film, as we all know Gael has acted in films that are classics and references for us Latin Americans, so I assumed that this film would be pretty good or at least entertaining. And the movie delivers at least some of this.
The film is based on a group of tourists who arrive to an island paradise "the version of paradise" where they intend to relax and enjoy of course, however, there is a special space on the beach where time passes quickly, everyone begins to age very fast; it's like the time room in dragon ball z but in reverse, what a good analogy I just made.
The first to realize it are the main characters of the movie, when they see their young children of 6 and 11 years old, become unrecognizable teenagers in the blink of an eye, that's when they begin to notice that something strange is happening on the island.

Being a film made by a tremendous film director as I have already said the film is visually very good, has some very attractive shots and sequences with camera movements that make the technical level has a personal rating of 7.5/10, however the development of the film is lousy, as are also lousy dialogues and many scenes that do not have much logic, which makes the film fails and does not achieve its goal.
The film plays with an element that is a primitive fear in people such as aging. Who wants to grow old and especially in the blink of an eye? I don't think anyone wants to stay young and enjoy the power of youth. "Old" touches this theme and in more than one could echo especially to the elderly.

Y la película cumple al menos algo de esto.
El film se basa en un grupo de turista que llegan a una isla paradisiaca “la versión del paraíso” donde pretenden relajarse y disfrutar por supuesto, sin embargo, hay un espacio especial en la playa donde el tiempo pasa acelerado, todos comienzan a envejecer muy rápido; es como la habitación del tiempo en dragon ball z pero al revés, que buena analogía que acabo de hacer.
Los primeros en darse cuenta son los protagonistas de la película, cuando ven que sus pequeños hijos de 6 y 11 años de edad, se vuelven en adolecentes irreconocibles en un abrir y cerrar de ojos, es ahí donde comienzan a notar que algo raro pasa en la isla.
Al darse cuenta que todos están envejeciendo muy rápido todos tratan inútilmente de escapar de la isla, no obstante sus esfuerzos no tienen frutos pues hay una especie campo magnético o algo así que no permite que nadie pueda escapar del lugar y son regresados muy extrañamente a las costas de la playa, esto no tiene una explicación pero todo aquel que intenta escapar falla en el intento.
Es aquí donde comienzan a aparecer los problemas entre los que están atrapados en la isla pues comienzan a desesperarse y los problemas empiezan a aparecer. Uno comienzan a dudar de otros y la cordura empieza a desaparecer en más de uno de los personajes creando un conflicto entre ellos.
Al ser una película hecha por un tremendo director de cine como ya lo he dicho la película es visualmente muy buena, posee unos planos y unas secuencias muy atractivas con movimientos de cámara que hacen que el nivel técnico tenga una valoración personal de 7.5/10, sin embargo el desarrollo de la película es pésimo, como también son pésimos los diálogos y muchas escenas que no tienen mucha lógica, que hace que la película falle y no logre su objetivo.
La película juega con un elemento que es un miedo primitivo en las personas como lo es el envejecimiento ¿Quién quiere envejecer y sobretodo en un abrir y cerrar de ojos? Creo que nadie todos queremos permanecer jóvenes y disfrutar de las fuerza de la juventud. “Old” toca este tema y en más de uno podría hacer un eco sobre todo a los mayores.
“Old” es una película que no admite el escrutinio del más quisquilloso pues hay muchas fallas en ella, pero no deja de ser entretenida y cumplir su objetivo en el espectador que quiera pasar un buen tiempo entretenido.
Al mismo tiempo usted puede no darse cuenta que esta ante la mente de un gran director de cine pues si nos ponemos exigentes la película, sería una más del montón que hay con drama veraniego y playero.
