Hey guys! So im also fairly new myself (this is my third day since joining), thought i'd show my results for these few days and share some cards i use for anyone just joining the game :)
Credits to quixoticflux for making rental guides for many of the different splinters, they've helped me alot this season

I think i did pretty decent this season, made it to Silver I but got kinda stuck here due to the different new rulesets, wasn't really familiar with them

All of my cards used above are rented (with the exception of the base cards we start with). Renting cards is a good way for new players to use good cards without needing to buy them, when you start out you want to focus on 1/2 splinters,
Death splinter carried me quite alot as i got lucky and managed to rent a c'thulu for cheap while in bronze (~3.6 DEC) which really helped alot with the grind to silver. Other cards i found myself using alot for Death was Haunted Spirit and Twisted Jester, which are both base cards. Boogeyman is useful too if you have the mana for it, it can both reduce the opponent's speed and deal good damage. Its also cheap to rent, being around 0.11dec a day at the time of writing, which you can earn back in a few games.
My strategy for Wood Splinter was using Mylor Crowning for the thorns, which deals damage to opponents who attack with melee. I find it works well against Fire Splinter decks, especially against Serpentine Spy. Main cards I run it with are Flesh Golem and Wood Nymph with Brownie Earth elemental and/or Khmer Princess.
Earth elemental has high health and can defend your backline when facing opponents with Sneak enough for Thorns to kill off some of the opposing monsters, allowing you to snowball to victory.
Brownie is a cheap 1 mana card that boosts your entire team's speed which is good if you have an extra slot and extra mana.
Of course, can't forget the chicken! Furious Chicken is a 0 mana neutral card which i run whenever i have an extra slot. It can tank 1 hit no matter the damage which i think is good especially in mirror matchups where taking 1 less hit can really win you the match. Consider renting a gold foil one to boost your DEC per win

Most matchesi played in Bronze are Standard, meaning there are no additional rules. Just make sure to check in case you meet one, some can really change how you play ( Like only being able to play cards with odd numbered mana, for example)

In conclusion, Im pretty satisfied with how i did as well as my rewards. As A final tip to new players like me, dont be afraid to rent cards, especially ones which can help you win matches, you'll earn it back in a few wins!
If your rating is high enough but you lack power, consider renting gold foil(GF) cards, common GF increases power by 500 (at least, i think alpha/beta cards give more power but not sure)
