Persimmon trees in the yards of homes were easily found every where in the 1980s. This kind of view brings back forgotten memories and nostalgia because of city being changed with full of apartments. Nowadays, it is difficult to find such a scenery unless you go to the countryside. Today, I came to the countryside with my father to see the autumn leaves and I saw a persimmon tree that was openly in the guest house. The persimmon tree is a very friendly tree that has been with us in many ways in our lives. Korean call it as 감나무 which means sweet tree. The impression of this tree in the yard of every house, deeply engraved on the Korean soldiers who participated in the Korean War, was so peaceful and friendly that there was a lot of talk later that it was the most Korean in the late autumn evening.

Here are 10 tributes from ancestors to the persimmon tree.

  1. Long lives.
  2. No nest of birds.
  3. Insects not here.
  4. Sweet taste of fruit.
  5. Beautiful inner pattern and hardness.
  6. Wide leaves be capable of writing literary texts.
  7. The branch used as an arrow.
  8. Faithfulness and changeless mind because of same color of the inside and outside of the fruit.
  9. Patience, the fruit hangs even the frost falls.
  10. Filial piety because the elderly without teeth can eat with fermented fruit.
