Every year in Sturgis South Dakota 500,000-1,000,000 people show up for their famous motorcycle rally...and happily 2020 was no exception!
While the rest of the country was still on lockdown, South Dakota continued to function normally thanks to Gov. Kristi Noem who hasn't mandated a thing since this started.
Hubs has always wanted to attend, so this was the perfect opportunity to break from Nazi York. Two blissful weeks exploring SD from east to west as we made our way toward the rallying spot.
First stop, Palisades State Park in Sioux Falls- and what an incredible gem this was!
Not only were the campsites huge, but the one we inadvertently chose had a path right from it to an unbelievably gorgeous "backyard"
Sometimes I think the universe offers divine aid to those who keep themselves spiritually in tune. It certainly seemed the case on this extraordinary vacation from the depths of covid hell.
We spent the first day exploring a very small area, we felt no need to push it...
I mean, what more could anyone possibly want?
Okay, admittedly I want to See it All
But the only way to truly do that is to take some time on each new vista.
It's hard to express just how much this was needed at the time, everything from the outside world melted away into peace for a time.
I wish I had taken pictures of the path to this, which was on the other side of our campground.
Incredible vistas a few steps in every direction!
It's rare in this fast paced world to have a day actually feel like a Day, instead of flying by.
Happily many days of this vacay were like that!
And that concludes day one of this journey, stay tuned for more!
