In order to protect the rights of the workers, this ministry and the departments under the ministry are conducting activities. In order to protect the rights of the workers, various guidelines are given from time to time including formulation of relevant laws, policies and rules under the supervision of the Ministry. The Department of Inspection of Factories and Establishments under this Ministry is constantly monitoring the protection of workers' rights, safe working environment and proper observance of labor laws. Matters relating to workers' organization, arbitration activities and training are taken care of by the Department of Labor. Demands for workers' rights are being ensured through seven labor courts and a labor appeals tribunal across the country, ensuring legal redress for the affected workers. The Minimum Wage Board is playing an important role in protecting the rights of workers by making recommendations to the government for fixing wages in various institutional sectors. Above all, under the auspices of the Ministry of Labor and Employment and its subordinate departments, timely steps are being taken for the protection of workers' rights.
