Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince is a 2009 fantasy film directed by David Yates and distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures. Based on Rowling's 2005 novel of the same name. The film, the sixth installment in the Harry Potter film series, was written by Steve Cloves and produced by David Heyman and David Barron. It stars Harry Potter as Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, as well as Harry's best friends Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger. The story follows Harry's sixth year at Hogwarts as he finds a mysterious textbook, falls in love, and tries to recover a memory that is the key to Lord Voldemort's fall. The film was a sequel to Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (2006), followed by Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 1 (2010).

The film received positive reviews for Yates' direction, performance, Delbonal's cinematography, Nicholas Hooper's music score, and "emotionally satisfied" story. The film was nominated for a 72nd Academy Award for Best Cinematography. And was nominated for the 63rd British Academy Film Award for Best Special Visual Effects and Best Production Design. It is the only PG rated film after Prisoner of the Year.
