Dark is a German science fiction thriller streaming television series co-produced by Baran Bo Oder and Jantje Freis that ran for three seasons from 2017 to 2020. After a child goes missing, Dark follows the characters of the fictional German city Winden as a true follower. They follow connections between four expatriate families to uncover a wasted time travel conspiracy that spans several generations. The series explores the effects of the existence of time and its impact on human nature. Dark has received critical acclaim for its melody, visuals, acting, musical score, and the ambition and complexity of its narrative.
The children begin to disappear from the German city of Wenden, highlighting the broken relationships, the dual life and the dark posts of the four families living there, and revealing a mystery that has spread to four generations.
The first season began in 2019, but was later incorporated through trips between 1986 and 1953, when members of the show's central families became aware of a worm in a cave system beneath a local nuclear power plant. In the first season, secrets about the Kahnwald, Nielsen, Doppler and Tideman family were revealed and their lives began to fall apart as their relationship unfolded. The conspiracy involves missing children and the history of the city and its citizens.

The second season continues as cross-border families try to reunite with their missing loved ones, a few months after the first season ended in 2020, 1986 and 1954, respectively. Additional story lines have been set in 2053 and 1921. The second season introduces Sis Mundus Creatis East, a major team in the ongoing battle for the ultimate fate of Winden and the people of the world. Tuti is descending towards defeat.
The third season follows the entire four families in terms of going public in 2020. It introduces a parallel world at first. The third season continued the story sequence in First World in 1954, 196, 2020 and 2053 and added a new story in Second Worlds in 197 and 2052, as the teams further developed their own aspirations for each world. The season features major events throughout the year, continues the season's events, and serves as a backstory to the events of the first two seasons.

The first season was originally held in 2019, but it expanded to include stories set in 1986, 1953, and final scenes from the first season - 2052, to include images of several characters from different ages at multiple actors.
The second season took place a few months later, depicting early stories in 2020, 1987, and 1954, respectively, adding that the future set story would run until 2053, and a fifth story set in 1921.
The third season is a parallel reality featuring a 16-year-old storyline and alternate versions of many of the main characters.
