In a winter 2 years ago, I had the opportunity to put my foot on the city of Murmask, Russia. One of Murmansk's most famous attractions is the monument erected in honor of the defenders of the Polar region. Its called the name is "Alyosha". He was given such an affectionate name by the inhabitants of the city.
I have also heard touching stories of the world war taking place in this northernmost city. It makes me feel so lucky to be here, and I wanted to put shadow of myself here. ❤️❤️❤️
The small city of Murmansk was one of the strategic targets of the Germans from the very beginning of their planning to attack Russia.
Because the unfrozen harbor is the gateway to the open sea, the railway connecting the city to the main part of the country, the Northern Fleet's base stations, as well as the nickel mines are the features that make this place. of great importance to potential invaders.

The inauguration ceremony of the monument took place on October 19, 1974. It's a real holiday for all townspeople. A crowd of thousands of people walked the streets of Murmansk on one leg. Everyone wants to see a monument to the soldier Alyosha. During the opening ceremony, the city's young men and women solemnly vowed never to forget their soldiers.
The soldier's feet were kept warm by the eternal flame.
Dressed in a raincoat,with a gun on his shoulder, the Alyosha monument in Murmansk sadly looks to the west. There, in the Valley of Glory, the longest battles took place. Many residents of Murmansk and soldiers from other cities and countries perished there in 1941.
The monument is very tall. (It is the second tallest statue in Russia ).The monument itself increased by 7 m, and the Alyosha memorial increased by 35.5 m. To reduce its weight, it has been left empty in the middle. Simply considering its enormous height, it can be argued that the object is relatively light. Its total weight is 5 thousand tons.
On May 6, 1985, Murmansk was awarded the title of «The City of Heroes» for his resilient defense against the brutal German army during the years of the Great Patriotic War.
When you are in Murmansk, You should spend a few hours visiting this important historic site. I visited this hero in the early morning (4 o'clock), the air was extremely cold in winter. Only the eternal flame e at the hero's feet is always bright and fire, it not only warmed our cold hands outside, but also warmed the inside of our hearts when we were here.
This is myself of shadow, proof that I have set foot on this beloved heroic city, the northernmost city of Russia.
