Hello, living beings! Today I'm going to tell you about this series that I watched last year and that finally, my brain is willing to write the review without making an excess of spoilers, although it is almost impossible to do them because talking to you about the series without telling you even small things that although they are spoilers, they are necessary for one to end up falling in love and thus enjoy it more than usual.
Servant is going to put us in the middle of a family that went through a traumatic moment, the loss of their son, but the mother, Dorothy, could not overcome that tragedy and was in a catatonic state where she just wanted to have her baby back, the only way to bring her back to reality was to give her a baby doll, although it did not work at all because she began to raise it as if it were really alive, that's how strong was her dissociation from reality.
Why Servant? Because they hire a nanny to take care of the baby, who is a doll, which is already very weird, but it gets much weirder when the nanny takes care of the doll as if it were a real baby, and even though the father, Sean, tells her that she doesn't have to keep pretending, she does it anyway turning the situation into something unheard of.

Hoy les voy a hablar de esta serie que vi el año pasado y que finalmente mi cerebro está dispuesto a escribir la reseña sin hacer un exceso de spoilers, aunque es casi imposible hacerlos porque hablarles de la serie sin contarles aunque sea pequeñas cosas que aunque son spoilers, son necesarias para que uno se termine de enamorar y así disfrutarla más de lo normal.
Servant nos va a poner en medio de una familia que pasó por un momento traumático, la pérdida de su hijo, pero la madre, Dorothy, no logró superar esa tragedia y quedó en un estado catatónico donde solo quería tener a su bebé de vuelta, la única forma de hacer que volviera a la realidad fue darle a un muñeco bebé, aunque no funcionó del todo porque comenzó a criarlo como si estuviera vivo de verdad, así de fuerta era su disociación de la realidad.
¿Por qué Servant? Porque contratan a una niñera para que cuide al bebé, que es un muñeco, cosa ya muy rara, pero se vuelve mucho más raro cuando la niñera cuida al muñeco como si fuera un bebé de verdad, y aunque el padre, Sean, le dice que no tiene que seguir fingiendo, ella lo hace de todas formas convirtiendo la situación en algo inaudito.
Don't worry, everything I told you can be found in a synopsis or the trailer of the series, so I haven't made spoilers, at least for the moments, but if at some point I make any spoilers I will say it in advance. Anyway, the plot and the trailer completely grabbed me in those few minutes I consumed reading and watching, and seeing that the director was M. Night Shyamalan I said I had to watch it urgently, and today looking for the images I had a pleasant surprise that the second season is already out and I'm crazy to watch it.
This series is too crazy in an unhinged sense, each chapter makes everything more confusing, and as there is always an eternal calm, you get desperate because you need a scream, a loud noise, something that unleashes some kind of action to drain all the energy and tension that we gradually accumulate to the point that we have to scream or take a break to continue watching it.
I love this kind of productions so it was very easy for me to watch the series like a sponge and fill myself with everything they were offering and use it to try to figure out what was going on, I never got my guesses right, but it was a good way to keep my mind a little more occupied than usual and not try to lose track of all the information I was getting.
No se preocupen, todo lo que les dije lo pueden encontrar en una sinopsis o en el trailer de la serie, así que no he hecho spoilers, al menos por los momentos, pero si en algún momento hago algún spoiler lo diré con antelación. En fin, la trama y el trailer me atraparon por completo en esos pocos minutos que consumí leyendo y viendo, y al ver que el director era M. Night Shyamalan dije que tenía que verla con urgencia, y hoy buscando las imágenes tuve la grata sorpresa de que la segunda temporada ya salió y estoy loco por verla.
Esta serie es demasiado loca en un sentido desquiciante, cada capítulo hace que todo se vuelva más confuso, y como siempre hay una eterna calma, uno se desespera porque necesita de un grito, un ruido fuerte, algo que desate algún tipo de acción para así drenar toda la energía y la tensión que vamos acumulado gradualmente hasta el punto que tenemos que gritar o tomarnos un descanso para seguir viéndola.
Amo este tipo de producciones así que fue muy sencillo para mí ver la serie como una esponja y llenarme de todo lo que estaban ofreciendo y usarlo para tratar de descubrir lo que sucedía, nunca acerté en mis suposiciones, pero fue una buena forma de mantener mi mente un poco más ocupada de lo normal y no tratar de perder el hilo de toda la información que estaba recibiendo.
The performances are fine, fair, and necessary, although I have to exalt Lauren Ambrose's performance playing an unhinged and loving mother with a doll, and Nell Tiger Free for being the perfect nanny that a doll doesn't need, Toby Kebbell also did an excellent job, but the role of exasperated husband and worried about his wife didn't completely fit with him, but he did the best job he could and I loved it anyway.
One of the strong points that duality in the story, we are seeing the reality of Sean, who has a wife traumatized by the death of his son and only by having a doll was he able to come to his senses, though not completely, and we have the reality of Dorothy and Leanne, the nanny, who both take care of a doll as if it were a real baby and it is the most normal thing in the world to do.
Seeing these two realities collide over and over again is a wonderful and distressing thing to watch, we never know what exactly is going to happen and although we are going to make assumptions, they are rarely going to be right, but it gives us the possibility to extrapolate everything we are seeing and make assumptions that are too insane and without fear of believing something exaggerated.
Las actuaciones están bien, son justas y necesarias, aunque tengo que exaltar la actuación de Lauren Ambrose al hacer de una madre desquiciada y amorosa con un muñeco, y de Nell Tiger Free por ser la niñera perfecta que un muñeco no necesita, Toby Kebbell también hizo un excelente trabajo, pero el papel de esposo exasperado y preocupado por su esposa no encajó por completo con él, pero hizo el mejor trabajo que pudo y me encantó de todas formas.
Uno de los puntos fuertes esa dualidad en la historia, estamos viendo la realidad de Sean, que tiene una esposa traumada por la muerte de su hijo y que solo al tener un muñeco pudo volver en sí, aunque no del todo, y tenemos la realidad de Dorothy y Leanne, la niñera, que ambas cuidan de un muñeco como si fuera un bebé de verdad y sea lo más normal del mundo de hacer.
Ver estas dos realidades chocar una y otra vez es algo maravilloso y angustiante de ver, nunca sabemos qué va a ocurrir exactamente y aunque vamos a hacer suposiciones, casi nunca van a acertar, pero nos da la posibilidad de extrapolar todo lo que estamos viendo y hacer suposiciones demasiado insanas y sin miedo a creer algo exagerado.
That wretched doll although it disturbed me too much, I loved to see it, it is like a guilty pleasure, that doll was too real and it is so surprising the moment they show it to you that you do not get to process it completely and you are left with the doubt, was it a doll or is it a real baby? That was my question when I saw it, I didn't know, nor could I discern what I saw, because apart from being half-blind, the scene was very fast.
The psychological terror that is going to be present during each chapter of the series is something that I loved completely, that tension, although it is desperate, I love it when what I'm watching takes advantage of it and does not let it go to waste, in addition, the uncertainty of not knowing how everything will end is something necessary in this.
The number of times the plot will change, the number of times we will think we know what is happening and suddenly we get a slap in the face changing everything we thought we knew, and we are happy for that to happen, because we are like that, masochists.
Ese muñeco desgraciado aunque me perturbaba demasiado, me encataba verlo, es como un placer culposo, ese muñeco era demasiado real y es tan sorprendente el momento en el que te lo muestran que no llegas a procesarlo del todo y quedas con la duda, ¿fue un muñeco o es un bebé de verdad? Esa fue mi pregunta cuando lo vi, no supe, ni pude discernir qué fue lo que vi, porque aparte de ser medio ciego, la escena fue muy rápida.
El terror psicológico que va a estar presente durante cada capítulo de la serie es algo que amé por completo, esa tensión, aunque es desesperante, me encanta cuando lo que estoy viendo la aprovecha con creces y no la deja desperdiciar, además, la insertidumbre de no saber cómo va a terminar todo es algo neccesario en esto.
La cantidad de veces que la trama va a cambiar, la cantidad de veces en la que vamos a creer saber lo que está sucediendo y de repente nos dan una cachetada argumental cambiando todo lo que creíamos conocer, y nosotros nos encontramos felices porque eso suceda, porque somos así, masoquistas.
I just got the second season! And I'm happy, after posting this I'm going to watch it and when the third season is going to come out I'll review the second one, anyway; another of the best things about this series is the musical setting and how the small details and small actions are accompanied by the musicality needed to surprise us and keep us alert to everything, and although there are scenes of scare jumps, there are not too many.

Y soy feliz, después de publicar esto lo voy a ver y cuando vaya a salir la tercera temporada hago la reseña de la segunda, en fin; otra de las mejores cosas de esta serie es la ambientación musical y cómo los pequeños detallos y las pequeñas acciones van acompañadas de la musicalidad necesaria para sorprendernos y mantenernos alertas ante todo, y aunque hay escenas de scare jumps, no son demasiadas.

Y deberían alegrarse porque no les conté spoilers, me siento orgulloso de mí mismo, a veces tardo demasiado en hacer las reseñas y esa es la razón, emocionado no me importa nada y digo todos los spoilers que se me puedan ocurrir, pero eso sí, sin contar toda la película, pues son cosas muy diferentes.

Si son amantes del terror psicológico, el suspenso, y de ver cosas que van más allá de la lógica humana, esta serie es perfecta para ustedes, así como lo es para mí, no hubo capítulo en el que mi cerebro no tuviera un orgasmo, y sé que al ver la segunda temporada va a ser así.
