Today we decided to walk to the mountains rising above the beautiful and amazing river Arda in the Rhodopes
Kardzhali district in my home country Bulgaria
I love these endless walks without a clear purpose and direction when you just start the car and go on the old battered road and enjoy the towering beautiful nature that fills your heart with happiness and love
To take off the shoes that constantly take you away from your nature to dip your feet in the lukewarm water to refresh yourself and feel the soul of nature around you

The Arda River is the largest right tributary of the Maritsa River and the largest Rhodope River. It springs from Ardinski Vrah in the Rhodopes and flows into the Maritsa River outside the country
The length of the river within the borders of Bulgaria is 241.3 km. Despite the relatively low altitude the Arda river basin has the highest runoff module of all Bulgarian river valleys - 14 l / sec / km2
The catchment area of the river is strongly influenced by the Mediterranean. The only one in the country it is located completely parallel to the Aegean coast at a distance of 40-60 km from it
this is due to the distribution of high water by seasons mainly during the winter months as well as the large size of the high waves as a result of snowmelt and winter rains. Despite its distinct mountainous character the river has a small average slope but a relatively large coefficient of curvature
The eastern Rhodopes through which the river passes are highly fragmented and diverse relatively low mountainous land. This creates preconditions for the formation of quite valley extensions in the form of valleys. on the territory of Kardzhali district such are the Kardzhali Shirokopolska as well as some smaller ones
Arda River springs from the karst spring Ardabashi at the northern foot of the border Arin peak. It flows east, through the Rhodopes passes through Greece and Turkey and flows into the Maritsa about 6 km west of Edirne
Arda drains the easternmost part of the Western Rhodopes and almost entirely the Eastern. Its upper course is a picturesque deep and narrow mountain valley with frequent meanders. in its middle course the Arda meanders through an incredibly beautiful deeply incised valley with valley extensions separated by short narrow but deep gorges
Its present name is of Thracian origin and means White River. Due to the Mediterranean influence in the Arda valley the high water is in December-February and the low water - in August-September
In Bulgaria a small but beautiful country has an abundance of history and natural landmarks one of the oldest countries a small but big country I am proud of and love with all my heart
here I open a beer and drink with pleasure, enjoying the pleasant picnic and the wonderful company around me
nothing is so pleasant if you have no one to share it with ... and appreciate the incredible nature that the world offers me because it gives us everything we need to exist and be satisfied with it
