I present you a few shots during my visit to Bulgaria at Zhrebchevo dam on the shore of which we visited the church of St. Ivan Rilski, which I was amazed because the landscape is amazing and I can say that the photos do not yield to this great experience that I want to share with you and I hope you touch the soul of the place and its charming energy

For more than a century, the lonely church has been submerged almost half every spring by the oncoming waters, and you can see the small ripples splashing in its walls, although it is not submerged now because we did not survive the moment for the perfect shots. . There is a special place on the shore where you can light a candle and dedicate yourself to prayer and the peace and quiet that the atmosphere provides. At the end of the summer the church is completely above the water and you can walk to it, enter and feel the spirit of an evicted and submerged village. You can imagine how weddings and baptisms were performed here. Over the centuries the church was gradually immersed by the dam Zhrebchevo and finally was crowned with the name of the sunken church Ivan Rilski

*In fact, it is important that in half a year there is no way to get to the church alone but only by water because it is literally submerged.
The possibility is by boat but you could only see the dark waters of Zhrebchevo dam In early spring the building is half submerged, and by the end of the summer it is almost completely under water.

Fortunately we managed to reach and even enter it but by land, in order to be able to photograph it from all sides. We would definitely come back here again and when the only way to enter is by water. Because even then it would be amazing not to be present at such a phenomenon* ..

The foundations of the dam were the former villages of Zhrebchevo Dolni Panicharevo. Despite warnings and protests from locals, the two villages were submerged and residents evicted to nearby settlements. They are allowed to demolish their houses and move the bricks to the area where they can rebuild their homes. The bell of the church was taken and laid in the town of Tvarditsa with the promise that when a resident of the sunken village dies, she will ring to announce his death to the other residents as a sign of respect for the people who lived there. This tradition is still observed today. Thus, the villages remain forever at the bottom of the dam, but a small part reminds that the people of these villages once lived here

The place has a special energy that affects even the most soulless people, to be honest, I had only heard about this space that prevails there, but I was amazed by the history and the impressions with which I left this spiritual land

I was impressed by the architecture of the church itself both live and by the shots that were taken because what a lover of your photography if you do not provide what you feel with your heart and in front of the lens

about the history that the place has to be honest

to be honest, it's hard enough and it's basically a dirt road, so be careful. If you decide to go to this place, which has character and is difficult, at least for us

IMG_20210815_160735_edit_40661687724523.jpg
which offered exactly this unique landscape this unique picture that was obtained when I shot behind the scenes honestly did not yield to its beauty and the landscape that offered us fish and canoe-kayak boats and all sorts of gadgets you can have fun in the water

Honestly, there were a lot of tourists who came from as far away as Russia. America, England. They had taken people who are curious to see the Bulgarian Bulgarian history and how rich we are in the essence of natural architectural landmarks

IMG_20210815_155805_edit_40961488909894.jpg

Honestly, there is room here for photographers who love photography. Not just as a job and can create unique shots with which to show their family or friend or themselves what they can create from a sunken church
