The red Cendrawasih (Paradisaea rubra) is a medium-sized bird of Paradise with a length of about 33 cm, from the Paradisaea clan. This bird is yellow and brown, and a yellow beak. The adult male bird measures about 72 cm which includes decorative blood red feathers with a white tip on the side of the abdomen, dark emerald green face feathers and two long black double twisted ropes on the tail. The female bird is smaller than the male bird, with a dark brown face and no decorative feathers.

Their necks are long and slender and have a distinctive hooked beak. The flamingo's legs are also very long, measuring between 30 to 50 inches. Their long legs and specially adapted beak allow them to catch small fish, larvae and plankton from the mud. Flamingos live in large colonies consisting of thousands of members. Their striking red-purple color is caused by the food they eat. Their diet consists mainly of brine shrimp, plankton, and blue-green algae. Flamingos also spend hours oiling their coats from special glands using their fur. This helps them to keep their coat in good condition.
