Computers are a big part of our everyday life. They give us access to many sources of knowledge and are helpful for word processing, Internet communications, digital/audio compositions, and also desktop publishing.

Computers have become an important part of our society with people depending on them for activities from business to entertainment or education. Access to technology, especially to personal computers (PCs), has shifted from privilege to a necessity in many parts of the world.

My name is Tejiri Ekpereta and I am 24years old. I hail from a minority tribe situated in a violence-prone region of Nigeria. My parents are not so financially buoyant and I am the second of four children.

I don't deserve to win any more than the others, but I would like to win this personal computer because of a situation that happened last month.

I have been unemployed for some time. The pandemic made getting a job in Nigeria almost impossible because of its negative impact on the economy. I got an invitation for an interview after several applications about a month ago that would require the use of a PC to write the first stage assessment test.

This made me devastated because I don't own a PC. I tried reaching out to some of my friends so I could use theirs. But the response I got made me break down.

One of them lied she left her laptop in school. The other said his laptop is his life and doesn't give it to anyone to use. I kept getting one rejection or the other. I ended up missing the assessment test.

Just yesterday, a friend of mine reached out to me that he had gotten the job. I didn't know if I should be happy for him or sad because I wasn't a part of the process because of a PC.

I somehow encouraged myself and spoke to another friend about it. She encouraged me and I felt better. I reached out to the former, congratulating him and believing mine will soon happen. I had to learn how to be genuinely happy for others when they are succeeding.

I believe my own time will come soon. Winning this PC will be a game-changer for me. We are in a digital era where computer literacy is spreading like wildfire.

These are some of the reasons why I need a personal computer.

1)Convenience
I need a personal computer because I can use it wherever I go. It is portable so I can carry it whenever I am traveling. With a laptop, I don't have to only be tied to the traditional daily working hours in a fixed locality.

I will be able to diversify and explore other online sources of income. This includes online paid surveys, online tutoring, etc which will require the use of a computer.

This will help me take care of my younger ones as I have a lot of responsibilities. It will relieve the pressure on my parents because I can see that they need assistance due to old age.

2)Optimal performance
The performance of laptops is far much better than that of mobile phones. For instance, the processing speed of most laptop central processing units is more superior to those of mobile phones. It is also easier and faster to connect to the internet using a laptop than using some mobile device.

3)Versatility
Laptops also have a wide variety of features that make them useful in various ways. For instance, most laptops can take photographs and record videos. They also have enhanced audio and video playing capacities that make them suitable for use as home theaters during outdoor activities.

You can store thousands of songs on your laptop and play them when you go camping. You can also store as many of your favorite movies as the storage capacity of the laptop can allow. You can always enhance the storage capacity of your laptop using an external hard disk.

4)Ease of learning and broaden my knowledge
With all the aforementioned advantages of owning a personal laptop, it is no surprise that personal laptops have now replaced the traditional exercise books.

It will help me become a master in using word processors. It will assist me in writing documents, reports, and even a book.

It will help to improve my writing skills in hive as I am incapable of using my mobile device sometimes to check for spellings and grammar errors in my text.

I also want to learn graphics design. This will aid my learning process. I intend to own a youtube channel where I can teach graphics design to beginners. This will help pass my knowledge to others and make a difference in their life.

Hive has helped me earn a little but it's not enough to afford me this necessity. Winning this will change my life forever as I am unable to afford one because of its cost.

I am relatively new to hive. My friend introduced me to this community (Leo Finance). I have been reading other people's articles and dropping comments although I haven't been consistent lately.

From henceforth, I will increase my engagement in this community. Dropping comments/feedback helps the writer in so many ways. They are encouraged, want to strive to do better, see how their post influences people, and learn other people's points of view about the subject matter.

I will also create content that is related to the financial space (i.e. crypto, equities, etc., etc.). This will help to create awareness and increase the knowledge others have about cryptocurrency. By doing so, I will be increasing my knowledge.

Good luck to myself and the other contestants. Thank you for reading.
