Corné "(self proclaimed) Braai Baas" Pienaar has been hounding me for a year or two now to try out "The Best Burger Recipe in the World"... and I finally get around to doing so in this episode.
I get to meet all sorts of cool people doing what I do, and almost everyone has that secret "world's best" XYZ recipe... and sometimes they share that recipe with me too... and in Corné's case was quite persistent that I try his burger patty recipe.
I've done many burger recipes on my channel before, and in all of them you will notice that I avoid bread as a binding agent, opting for egg instead... but when I first read through the recipe, I thought it might end up being a little too moist if I skipped the bread crumbs, so I brought some bread along just in case... and yes, it was ;-)
So to avoid my burger patties from falling apart on the braai I added the crumbs in after adding the egg as well.
too much chipotle sauce perhaps?
Personally, I think it was STILL a little too moist (did I get the recipe wrong, or is that how it's meant to be? 🤔🤔🤔). The Smokey Chipotle really DOES add that something special to the flavour of this burger, but I'd add about 1/2 the sauce the next time I make this one.
Burger Patty Ingredient list:
1kg beef mince (aka ground beef)
1/2 grated onion (left in boiled water for a few minutes)
1 grated (and peeled) green apple
Tablespoon of tomato sauce
Tablespoon of Worcester sauce
Salt / Pepper
1 bottle of Ina Paarman Smokey Chipotle sauce 320ml
2 slices of brown bread (finely shredded not crumbed)
1 egg
