Walking the streets of the city, history and architecture

1.jpg

One of the striking architectural monuments of Troitsk.
Chelyabinsk Region, Russia (formerly Orenburg Province).
Epochs of the 19th century - hotel G.A. Bashkirov, built in 1909.
In the fashionable style of that time - Modern.

The photo for this post was taken and hosted from the city archives.

Photo taken by an unknown photographer in the 19th century.
All the architectural details of the building are very clearly visible on it.
It is interesting that you unwittingly find yourself in that distant time.
When you look closely at this photo. It's like a Time Machine.

Such a color photograph has also been preserved in the city archives.
I wonder how they could already take photos in color at that time?
Photography was still in its infancy as art and is already in color.
It is always interesting to look back in time through photographs.

4.jpg

The modern look of this famous Art Nouveau hotel after a renovation.
Although this building was in the USSR for a very long time...
In poor and disrepair, it was almost destroyed from the facades.
The central facade of the building has suffered a lot of destruction.

5.jpg

After the restoration, the hotel building regained its beauty and style.
The Art Nouveau architecture again showed us what was lost.
And we, the townspeople, again saw the pristine state of the hotel.
The building has become what it was built in 1909 in the 19th century.

6.jpg

In this hotel Bashkirov were accommodated during trade fairs.
Trading people, stock traders, bankers, gold miners and merchants.
All these people liked to have a very good rest after trading.
There was another building in the hotel complex (for passions).

7.jpg

Today the hotel again fulfills its direct purpose after restoration.
Work to save the building from destruction was carried out in 2011.
Now the hotel building will stand for the same number of years.
It's good that such beauty was saved from destruction in the city.

8.jpg

The constructive solution of the building was advanced for that time.
It is made of full-bodied red brick with load-bearing longitudinal walls.
The foundation is tape, made of rubble stone, there is a lot of it here.
Almost all floors are made of concrete vaults on metal beams.

9.jpg

The beauty of the architecture and the style of the hotel building.
They charm all passers-by and those who come here specially.
This is the very skill of the architects and builders of the past.
When you approach a building, you just want to go into it and look.

10.jpg

The perspective of the street and the buildings on it amazes everyone.
With its laconicism and beauty of the lines - this was the main thing.
How could architects and craftsmen have guessed it at that time?
At that time there were no such technologies and computers as now.

11.jpg

When this hotel building was built, it was the tallest in the city.
Therefore, an observation booth was added on the roof of the hotel.
A firefighter was sitting in this small room, he looked out of the city.
If there was a fire somewhere, he would ring the bell on the roof.
By the way, this roof booth is clearly visible from this photo.

But this "killed" was the hotel building in Soviet times. It survived.
The building survived because it was built by masters for centuries.
Nothing could destroy it - not the revolution, not the life of the USSR.
I’m even wondering what story this building is waiting for next?

The photo for this post was taken and hosted from the city archives.

And one more photo of the Bashkirov hotel from the time in the USSR.
The hotel was then named - Central, and the restaurant - Stepnoy.
But all this is now also in the past. And, in general, such a story.
Good or bad - we'll see, but for now the hotel has an owner again.

The drawing is made by the method of phototheodolite photography.

Very interesting work of this engineer.

WALK IN THE STREETS OF THE CITY, HISTORY AND ARCHITECTURE.

It is always interesting to take a walk along the streets of the city, where you can get acquainted with the history and architecture of past centuries. The city of Troitsk (Orenburg province) historically appeared (the beginning of construction) in 1743 and was at the beginning a fortress. Or as they said at the time - the city was the gateway to Asia. A large trade in goods between the countries of the West and the East was formed here. Merchants came to trade fairs from many cities of Russia, countries of Europe and Central Asia. In the city there were several banks, stock exchange, bazaars, shops and various trading stalls. There are also many Orthodox churches (12), a monastery, mosques (6) and even a synagogue (1). There were many craft industries and educational institutions. Shopping arcades were also built, but there was no good hotel. Although in the city at that time there were many visiting yards and drinking establishments. Therefore, the entrepreneur G.A. Bashkirov decided to build a large first-class hotel with a European-standard restaurant. He invited architects and craftsmen from St. Petersburg (built by Italians) and in 10 months he built a beautiful hotel in the Art Nouveau style. In the photographs, we can clearly see what a beautiful and large building (the whole complex) was built in such a short time.

According to legend, the merchant of the first guild, Gavriil Alekseevich Bashkirov, in 1908, being at the Nizhny Novgorod fair, being drunk, heard a conversation between merchants that the lack of a hotel in the city was the disadvantage of the Trinity fair. Bashkirov argued with the merchants that Troitsk had a splendid exchange hotel with a first-class restaurant. At that time in Troitsk there were only inns and third-rate furnished rooms, of which the merchants spoke. Ten months later, by the summer trade fair, a luxurious building in the style of Russian Art Nouveau appeared before the gaze of amazed debaters. In 1916, Bashkirov was offered to sell the building for a bank for 185,000 rubles in gold, it was fabulous money at that time, but he did not sell his hotel. Such a story or even a legend of this amazingly beautiful hotel building. It is good that today the building was restored in time and saved from death and destruction, which could have occurred due to the fault of thoughtless officials of the Soviet era.
