Travelling with Bass. The Dragons of Phan Thiet

Our next destination was Phan Thiet.

_096.jpg

Phan Thiet is not only a resort with beautiful hotels, but also the historical heritage of Vietnam.

_206.jpg

After all, it is here that the famous Cham towers are located.

_.jpg

These towers are very ancient, they were built in the 8th century to worship the Hindu god Shiva.

_148.jpg

Inside the towers there is a very simple altar where the locals pray for the souls of their ancestors.

From above, bunches of bats hang over the ceiling. Sometimes one of them flaps its wings and flies to another place like a miniature dragon. The picture of flying bats is not for nervous people, believe me.

Since we are talking about dragons, not far from the towers one can find the plantation of an exotic fruit called dragon fruit or dragon heart.

_.jpg

The official name of this fruit is Pitahaya. Many of you probably know what I'm talking about. This is a white, slightly watery fruit with black specks, but its peel looks very unusual.

_163.jpg

The Vietnamese call pitahaya the queen of the night, because it blooms only at night.

_167.jpg

The plantation is surrounded by lamps that shine brightly at night, so that the plant could grow faster.

_161.jpg

If you like exotic fruits, then probably you will like the wine with cobra as well but we didn't dare to buy it. What if it bites?

Another interesting place in Phan Thiet is the longest statue of reclining Buddha in Vietnam.

_214.jpg

The statue is interesting because its length is 49 meters. If you want to see it you need to get there by the cable car.

_175.jpg

This is a very picturesque place with a pagoda and several more Buddha statues.

_228.jpg

_203.jpg

However, the other statues are not so big. They are dedicated to boundless light, compassion and the power of wisdom.

_202.jpg

I am afraid of heights and it was scary for me to travel by cable car because the forests are visible far below you.

_233.jpg

Even when you arrive at the place, you cannot get to the statue immediately. You still need to climb 300 steps up.

_182.jpg

The statue is so long that I couldn’t even take a photo of it all.

_217.jpg

Inside the temple, which is located nearby, you can see the altar:

We were happy to return to our hotel after excursions. Our hotel was luxurious, but almost empty, because there aren’t many guests in such expensive hotels.

_105.jpg

_103.jpg

_107.jpg

The territory of the hotel is huge and all covered with greenery.

_108.jpg

_123.jpg

Not only the Russian singers sang there. The guests were also entertained by local musicians.

_.jpg

it looks very unusual, don’t you agree?

To be continued.
