To the races they bound

Of sleek stature these beasts bound.
Streaming through the open ground.
Their muscles tense with strength
With animalistic intent the entire length
The crowds look on as their fortunes tied
These beasts determine their owners pride

Countless times each one travels
Round and round muscles unravel
Peak and prime
On borrowed time
The cheers eventually dies down
Beasts now sleep, those with no crown

The chase starts fresh and new
No thoughts spared for those they slew
Life and death cycles through
Of fortunes won or maybe blew
Crowds now go wild at these beasts
Let's not forget those out to rest

It comes easy, no hard task
Forgetting inconvenience, please don't ask
Tears so fall
But not for all
No need to condemn
For we know not of them

With each eye looking low
Fallen victors six feet below
While questions are raised
A whole industry do we set ablaze?
Intertwined and bound with guilt
This conundrum too big we've built

Life is precious for a time
Are we not all spinning on a dime
Looking now we see it cheap
Insignificant let us all weep
Let's not forget then those that rest
Each and every grand beast

How you've listened and thought hard
Each of us a part of these dealt card
It's now the end of this tale
Let's hope it's not a wasted sale..
