As we advance in meditation, we might notice how it affects the rest of our lives. Perhaps in a moment when previously we would have reacted immediately, we now have a fraction of a second to diverge from that previous ingrained habit.
We now have a space between reaction and response, in which we are free to choose something a little different.
We might call this having a cool head, an even mind, equanimity, imperturbability, or upeksha. In that space, we are truly free.
