"EYE OF THE WHALE"

13 Pictures from my visit to the "Eye of the Whale Arch" in Arches National Park (Moab, Utah)
I took a few friends in the truck down a short (though kinda rough) dirt road and did the short hike to the arch.

We thought the best shots were of the arch all aglow but realized that the other side now free of harsh direct sunlight was the real reason it was the "eye of the whale" I assume you can see the EYE.

LAST LIGHT

This is the side you enter from and as it gets close to sunset the last light wonderfully lights up the arch.
You either need a really wide angle or a panorama like what I did on these shots.

WITH AND WITHOUT YOU

I was happy to get both views with and without people.
And showing off that desert look.

In the end the shots with my friends turned out pretty epic.

THE VIEW FROM THE ARCH

It's not that far from balanced rock and the windows section of arches. Though a higher clearance vehicle is highly recommended.

From thethe arch you get a pretty decent view of the La Sal mountains.
Probably not the optimal spot for sunset but not bad either.
