Condition of hospitals as well as Covid patient is in very pitiful situation here in Nepal. With just population of around 29 million, the daily cases are rising above 8000 or 9000 someday. For country with such few population, it has one of the highest death per capita. The number of deaths each day averages around 200. It is more than death per capita of India.

Nepal is suffering what India has suffered from the onset of the deadly second wave. There is no any beds left in any hospitals of Nepal. Its hard to get oxygen cylinder. The patients are told to manage the cylinder themselves. Many of them have lost their lives simply because they can't get oxygen cylinder on their own.

Different organizations and youths have been playing a vital role in curbing this condition. They have been turning many of their places like monuments, temple into isolation center and had facility of oxygen cylinder. Oxygen plants are refilling oxygen free of cost but people are advised to bring cylinder on their own. Searching of old cylinder is heavily going on. Also, The national flag-carrier Nepal Airlines Corporation (NAC) has flown to Beijing, China to get the 1600 oxygen cylinders donated by China. It will be flying today and tomorrow to bring the remaining one. And also, Nepalese people residing in Oman have donated 60 oxygen cylinders to Nepal and the same airlines brought the cylinder from Oman.

On Saturday, #NepalNeedsOxygen hashtag was trending here in Nepal and on Sunday, #NepalNeedsVaccine was trending. Nepal was donated first batch of Covishield vaccine earlier. But it was not sufficient. Due to India's recent condition, the supply of this vaccine to immunize people have been affected. However, the second dose of Chinese vaccine Vero Cell has been going starting yesterday. But its only for people who had first dose. And it has been solely focused for people of Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal because that is where the most covid cases are like 5500 out of 8000 daily cases. This immunization program is scheduled to run for other 8 days.

Always stay safe. Wear mask, avoid crowd, sanitize your hands and maintain social distancing. I have been doing the same since March last year. Doctors and Nurses here in Nepal are already in hopeless situation. They have already given up. Many are losing their life not due to covid but due to shortage of oxygen. Hope that may not be the case in yours.
