Feeling the Music at the Strassenkunst festival in Werne an der Lippe

Hey Hivers!

We have just arrived in France after a great weekend in Werne an der Lippe! Yesterday we posted a video of the performance on the first night at the Freilichtbuehne and the feedback has been wonderful. Today we want to share a few photographs from our manager @lalalopoberlin who took some great shots during the other performances.

This festival was very well organized. We have to give a big thanks to Zeitwanderer, the Austrian organization responsible for organizing the festival. Their entire team was marvelous! Extremely well organized, friendly and attentive. Normally this festival should be out in the squares, free for all people to see, but due to the covid regulations in Germany, an alternative festival concept was required. The solution was to use an open air theater in the City Park on the outskirts of the town, selling tickets for a mandatory donation that would be split among the artists in each block.

It has been an interesting past year with organizers all finding different solutions for the challenges presented by the pandemic and governmental response. This has been particularly complicated for the street festivals, who have to create an entirely different concept from the festival. It isn't always successful, but the organization in Werne was excellent and as a result, very fruitful for the artists. Hopefully the other festivals we are doing over the next weeks will be on the same level!
