My name is Claire Mobey
Social Media: The Beginning
I have been an avid social media butterfly since around 2008 when a good friend of mine forced me to begrudgingly accept her invite to this heinous thing called Facebook, and my holy hat. What a ride it's been.
Over the years, I've joined communities, participated in debates and learned so much that I ordinarily would not have been exposed to, had I not made these friendships with these internet strangers from all over the world and from all walks of life (don't talk to strangers on the internet, right🤣🙈).
Spreading my wings
Facebook and Instagram also enabled me to connect with fellow Indie musicians and I even started my own Youtube channel during the hard lockdown in South Africa in April/ May 2020, where I have been posting content regularly.

I've been finding that the amount of time I have spent posting and blogging and uploading music videos on these platforms has left me ...... wanting......
Flying the nest
I feel that I'm not reaching the right people and the intellectual and meaningful connections I was making are fading away. I think these platforms are becoming redundant or are at least not heading in the direction I want to go in.
New Horizons
Even as Facebook morphs into Meta (whatever that all entails) and the hints that reward systems may be built in to the platform sometime in the future, I'd much rather be spending my time in a decentralised community, where building each other up seems to be the lifeblood of the ecosystem.
I look forward to getting to know everyone here, engaging with you and growing with you.
