Ragnarok X: Lost Temple - STROUF Hard Mode Guide

Hello Everyone!

In the SEA Server on Ragnarok X: Next Generations, most of the people that started when the game launched should be right around level 60 to 68 by now. The majority of the population should have access to Lost Temple where you will encounter the Boss, Strouf, and the chance to get the level 60 gears and crafting materials.

When you have reached level 58, your main quest should take you to the quest to unlock the Lost Temple Instance, a dungeon set underwater. What I love about this instance versus all the other dungeons I've been through is that it's less walking and more fighting. While I would want to discuss Strouf's backstory further, this is a guide, a quick one at that. Let us get started.

What You Will Need

You are going to need a group of 5 people, definitely. If your levels range from between 58-60, you will most certainly need the entire 5 man crew unless you got an epic whale DPS tagging along with your group. The most important member here would definitely be a priest. Those extra rezzes are definitely a plus and your tank is going to need all the heals he could get. A tank such as the Lord Knight class would be nice but any melee class that could take hits like a Whitesmith or an Assasin Cross would do just fine from my experience. Other than those 2, high DPS classes like a Sniper or a Wizard should fill the next couple of slots.

Mix and match the group with the classes below for as long as you have a priest and people are actually playing, then you are almost there.

Group:

  1. Priest (a must)
  2. Tank (Lord Knight, AssassinX, Whitesmith - If they could take hits, it's fine)
  3. Sniper, High Wizards (DPS, The #2 classes could do definitely do this too)

Lost Temple

When you have reached level 58, your main quest should take you to the quest to unlock the Lost Temple Instance, a dungeon set underwater. What I love about this instance versus all the other dungeons I've been through is that it's less walking and more fighting. Actually, there are only 2 stations where you stop and kill mobs versus the lower level dungeons where there was a whole lot of walking (Ancient Pyramid), or 3 or more stations worth of fighting before you get to the boss (I forgot about the sewer encounter, but you get the gist).

3 Phase Encounter

Once you get on the 3rd platform, you will start the Strouf Encounter. Strouf will be released from his stone slumber and cast water and lightning on you all. These are the standard skills he casts apart from the different phase changes you will encounter.

  1. Melee Attack - He is going to attack with a melee range at an angle in front of him. The clue here is the big triangle on the floor in front of him. Get out of it or get to his back and you will do fine.

  2. Summons Monsters - He is going to summon monsters like swordfishes to help him. He summons a few but they are pretty weak. You would notice that he raises his hand and there is a blue seal on the floor, that is when and where he will do the summons.

  3. Watersphere - He is going to raise his hand again, only this time he turns significantly blue and brighter and gets slightly larger. When he does this, stop what you are doing and run back. This does a decent amount of damage, as of this writing (because I haven't really upgraded my armors at all) I get 1 shotted by this skill. This attack is in a form of a large spherical wave that comes out from his body and has a pretty large radius.

As you move towards the different phases, these skills are being cycled through. The more dead bodies these skills do to your party, the harder it takes for your priest to keep you all up which is the more likely reason to wipe your entire group.

Phase 1 - Forked Lightning

Burn Strouf down to 70% HP. Once you burn him down to level 70, his health stops dropping and he casts 3 lines of lightning (Red Circles on the Floor) at an angle in front of him all the way to the wall. He will be doing this for a few seconds before he starts taking hits again.

Right around this time, depending on your DPS, he should have cycled through 1 set (all 3) of skills on your party.

Phase 2 - If you stand on red, you are dead

Once you have moved beyond 70% HP, the next phase triggers at 40% HP. The skills that he uses do not change though, however, I feel that he does it more frequently at this phase. Once you have brought him down to 40% HP, he will stop taking hits again and start casting random lightning strikes around him. There will be a red circle on the floor when it occurs and you have a second to react or you poof like CocoCrunch. Fairly easy to avoid if you are paying attention.

Phase 3 - Run Forest, Run!

The last phase is 10%. Bring Strouf down to 10% and you are on your final stretch. This is where most often than not your party will wipe. Once you have brought him down close to 10%, you STOP WHAT YOU ARE DOING... AND RUN! RUN like the wind and RUN away from your party members for sure.

Sacrifice my life to take this picture for you all

Once he enters his final phase, red circles will appear on the floor. If you are stopped in your tracks when this happens, you will not have time to react and die immediately. For you to be able to evade it entirely is to just run... Run away from other people so that they will not accidentally stand on the red circles you've generated from just being there.

The END

The last 10% is the final stretch and a very easy way to burn him down. That last phase was the ultimate challenge, an obstacle your priest and the rest have to go through to be able to kill him. Once you manage to kill him, now you get to reap your rewards.

Conclusion

And that is it, folks, you will be eating a whole lot of Lost Temple Hard modes once you hit level 58 until you have enough folks to do Moonlit Cave with at Level 70. This guide should help make the Lost Temple run easy for everyone.
