The Yokai are "spiritual beings" of legend that have existed in Japan since ancient times.
Their legends are preserved in many old Japanese documents and I was very much fascinated by their mysterious world.

However…as it turns out, I was just having fun drawing Maya as usual😆

In my last post, I introduced the manga process and said that it takes two hours per page, but I actually calculated that it took about four hours😅

我々はそうした奇々怪々とも言われる術を幾多と操り…

突如として霧のように現れ…
瞬時に敵を刺す！！！
巷で囁かれる忍者のこうした逸話は数多とある…
それは過去数百年に渡り忍者が暗躍し恐れられたからこそできた一種の"伝話"だ。
では、果たしてそれは"ただの伝話"なのか？
答えは…否だ

さっきくらったのはこれだ…！
これを何倍にも強めたのが…
そう、忍術…それは忍者の強大なる力…
だがこの力は数百年の平穏な世と共に人々の記憶から消え去っていった…
だがそれは我々にとってはむしろ好都合…元より忍術とは門外不出の秘伝…
単なる古き伝話と思われていた方が狙われることもなく安全だ。
狙われる…？

そう、今言ったように忍術とは秘伝の技だ…
しかし…忍者の系譜にはその技が未だ受け継がれていることを戦に身を置いてる者なら誰でも知っている。
そしてこの強大な力はそんな奴らにとっては実に魅力的だ。
だからこそ漏洩を防ぐために安易に教えることはせんのだ。
いいか？肝に命じておけ…
忍術とは命を守る術(すべ)であると同時に…
命を狙われる理由にもなるのだ。
…とまぁ脅してはみたが、
実際のところ忍術自体が狙われることはほぼ皆無だ。
これは忍者としての自覚を施すための一種の説教だな

考えてみろ、
忍術とは言うなれば忍者の流派の技だ…
武術にしろ各々が多様な流儀を心得ているわけだが相手の流派を盗むために戦うわけではないだろ？
目的は盗むことではなく…どちらの技の方が優れているのか！そこだ！
そして我々の流派もまた数多ある中の一つでしかない…
例え戦い敗北を喫しても相手は自らの技の方が優れていることに満足し、敗北者側の流派はただ淘汰されていくだけだろう…
え…それなら忍術のこともっと早く教えてくれてもよかったんじゃないの?
重要なのはそこだ
いいか？この世には様々な術が存在している…

忍者が操る忍術…
呪術師が操る呪術…
イタコが操る降霊術…
陰陽師が操る陰陽道…
このような怪異な術は全国に数多ありそれぞれが独自の"道"として確立していった…
だが、そもそもこれらの術は"何から"派生したと思う？
何から…？つまり起源となったものがあるということですか？
その通り、この不可思議な力は元々は人間の技ではない…
遥か大昔に異界からもたらされたものだ…
異界…？
そう…その技を我々はこう呼ぶ…

全ての術の祖…妖術と。
妖術…！
妖…って…
氣付いたか？そう…妖術の"妖"は妖怪の"妖"と同じ漢字だ。妖…またの読み方を…

あやかし。
遡ること数千年…
異界の住人達がもたらした妖しき技は一部の人間達へと受け継がれた…
それを起源とし派生、確立した技の一つが忍術というわけだ。
覚えておけ、忍術を学ぶということはまさしくこの異界の技に触れるということ…
それはつまり完全なる"未知の世界"へ足を踏み入れるということだ。
未知の世界…？

もう…なんか言ってることが抽象的過ぎてよくわかんないんだけど…

とにかく！
忍術を使えるようになりたいのよ私達は！
そういう難しい理屈は置いといてさ！まずは簡単なのを…
それなら…私の横に何が見える？

そうか空氣か！こりゃ一本取られたな！
何よ！私は真面目に答えたのに！！

ははは、すまんすまん。
まぁとにかく…よし、今日の授業はこれで終わりにするとしよう。

落ち着け…物事にはタイミングというものがある…

お前らには既に兆候が表れ始めている…
焦らずともいずれその時が来るだろう…

知識や技術や目に見えるものばかりを追うのではなく…
時には風の心地よさや火の温かさ、川の美しい音を感じることだ…
その穏やかで慎ましき心が人の本来の力を目覚めさせる…
そうすることで感じるようになる存在もいるものだ…
まぁ…必ずしも穏和な存在ばかりではないがな…"そいつら"は
