The weather is still nippy which means I get up a little later now. By the time the chores are done, hens are fed and garden is cared for it’s time for brunch! And it’s definitely one of our favorite times of the day!
I had defrosted some steaks and had a couple heads of cabbage so I decided to make steak with a side of cabbage and bacon!
I fried up half a package of smoked bacon that I cut up into bite size pieces.
I removed the bacon and to the bacon drippings I added:
1 small cabbage coarsely chopped
2 cloves of garlic and half an onion both diced
1 tsp each of salt, pepper, sugar and red pepper flakes.
And you cook all this together till the cabbage is cooked.
Before serving add a drizzle of balsamic vinegar and toss in your bacon!
