G7 Summit – Fox in a Henhouse

In the beginning of 2017, I have posted a shocking Oxfam report on the growing wealth gap. It is not possible to close the eyes before this tragic problem anymore…

The host of this year’s G7 summit in Biarritz, French president Macron, have made the wealth gap key topic of discussion, together with global trade and climate change. Aside from the fact that Macron could be quite insincere on that question, making it solely for the improvement of his public picture, it is really hard to believe that G7 would be able to do anything on improving the situation – they are, in fact, the main motor of the growing wealth gap:

Nobody really have the illusion about that. Previous G7 Summit in Canada finished with a Trump disaster, leaving the host, Canadian PM Justin Trudeau red faced, and this time Macron have called in a surprise guest – Iranian foreign minister Javad Zarif, hoping he will establish a dialogue with Trump. Instead, he got Trump’s despise and rejection. The Summit weekend was the 41 week of Yellow Vest protests in France, which this time were complemented by anti-capitalist and anti-G7 protests all over the country, with the participants from many EU countries:

There are growing mass of people who do understand that G7 cares about disproportionate wealth gap just as some arsonist would take care about the wildfires in Siberia or Amazon. They are a fox in the henhouse, and all the talks at the Summit won’t help, just as the World didn’t get any better after previous 44 G7 Summits since the WWII. Oxfam is following the situation, and you can find the reports at their web pages.

Macron has shown he is aware of the problems, but neither he, nor the group did make a single constructive proposal for the resolutions with which they could step outside before the protesting people. They are obviously kicking the can until the events go out of control.

And the events are brewing for 41 weeks already in France. We can only guess how much time G7 “elite” has left…
