Capitalism and Mental Health

United States model of liberal capitalism society is showing signs of a serious illness. Base of all misery is, no doubt, growing wealth gap between the richest 1% and 99% of the common people. The distribution goes approximately like this: All the wealth goes to 1%, and all the consequences goes to 99%…

And what are the consequences? The most obvious ones are, at the same time, symptoms of a disease that was, through history, usually cured with — a revolution. Every year more people die from the overdose with a prescription opioids than U.S. had casualties in the whole Vietnam war. Overdose deaths are at the historical maximum, just as it was in the USSR before the dissolution. Exorbitant military engagement all over the World produces a large number of veterans that cannot find their place in society after the return from war. At the moment, 22 veterans are committing suicide every day. Every year, police is shooting far more innocent citizens then terrorists do. And every year there is a rising number of mass shooting all over USA. If you think that is not as horrible as the war, well Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, maintained by the University of Washington, has some sobering figures for you.
