Christchurch, the city where I am living.

Hi bloggers,

This is my second post, hope you enjoy reading my journey. Today, I would like to share with you about Christchurch City where I choose to settle down. I have been living in New Zealand for four years and I also have been traveling to many places around New Zealand since I came here. Personally, I don't like living in big cities because I feel unsafe, crowded, and noisy. In contrast, Christchurch is the second biggest city in New Zealand but the longer I stay here, the more I fall in love with the city. Lets me show you some reasons which changed my mind about living in a city and especially in Christchurch city.

The first reason is the city itself. Christchurch city was planned and created by a company name the church of England in the 1850s. The city earned the most English city in New Zealand because of the Gothic architecture and early demographic composition. The most famous building in Christchurch is the Christchurch Cathedral. Unluckily, by 2011, the Earth Quake has destroyed the Cathedral and it is in badly damage. The city is going to rebuilding the Cathedral but it would not be in the near future. The Earth Quake in 2011 was not only destroy the Cathedral but also many houses, and buildings in Christchurch. Moreover, more than 120 people have died in the Earth Quake. By 2019, the massacre took innocent lives which might affect the citizen. But no, all of those horrible things were not affect the city but make it grow stronger. Today, Christchurch is one of the safest cities in New Zealand. People learned from the natural disaster so they change the building construction. People learned from the massacre to be more welcoming and warming to strangers rather than hatred.
"Where we failed, it is where we stand up again" and "what doesn't kill you, it makes you stronger" Unknown

The second reason is Christchurch city located near the beach and many famous landscapes. I did travel to some beautiful places such as Akaroa, Kaikoura, Hanmer Spring, Author's Pass national park, Mount Hutt, Lake Tekapo. Especially, the road trip from Christchurch to Queenstown has been voted by backpackers as the most beautiful route in New Zealand.

The third reason is walking and biking friendly. Most of the cities in New Zealand are hills, but not Christchurch. I love the feeling of walking around the city after work or study time. My most favorite place to walk around is Hagley Park. Hagley Park is the largest park in Christchurch which is located in the city center. It is separated by the South and the North Hagley Park. There are so many activities in the park such as Kayaking, events, high school sports days, camping, golfing, and many more.

The fourth reason is food and opportunities to develop a hospitality career. Like many cities in the world and particularly in Christchurch, there are thousands of restaurants around the city that include a variety of cuisines. I can tell my favorite are Chinese, Vietnamese, Korean, Thai, Japanese. Tell you a secret, I know the best restaurant for each of these cuisines. Text me when you visit Christchurch, I can show you around.😉😉😉
