No negaré que este pensamiento lo he tenido en muchas ocasiones ¿Qué se sentiría tener un león de mascota? Como si fuera el guardián del patio de tu casa o salir a pasear a tu búfalo de agua (que en otros lugares del mundo quizás si ocurra). La linda @maryed me invitó a formar parte de esta graciosa iniciativa del hermano querido @ilazramusic y yo la verdad no me lo pensé demasiado para decir “vamos pues” así que vamos pues.

Conocemos a las mascotas por definición, esos adorables perritos, gatitos, periquitos y otras aves, hay personas que tienen mascotas más extravagantes como tarántulas o serpientes, de hecho tuve un amigo que tuvo una serpiente (que se hizo muy grande para estar en casa). Hay quienes prefieren los peces, aunque sinceramente es algo que eso tengo tiempo sin ver.

Pero ¿Si pudieras tener de mascota a un animal salvaje? Esos que tantos nos llaman la atención ¿Cuál sería? Lo he pensado mucho en algún trayecto de mi vida, aunque no soy fan ni tampoco soy alguien que apruebe la domesticación de animales silvestres (que de hecho hay algunos que pueden domesticarse y se hace). Después de reflexionarlo y echar un vistazo por la enciclopedia decidí mostrarles a tres animales silvestres que sin duda yo tendría como mascota si pudiera.

I will not deny that I have had this thought on many occasions. What would it feel like to have a pet lion? As if it were the guardian of your backyard or going for a walk with your water buffalo (which in other parts of the world might happen). The cute @maryed invited me to be part of this funny initiative of dear brother @ilazramusic and I really didn't think about it too much to say "let's go then" so let's go then!

We know pets by definition, those adorable little dogs, kittens, parakeets and other birds, there are people who have more extravagant pets like tarantulas or snakes, in fact I had a friend who had a snake (that got too big to be at home). There are those who prefer fish, although honestly it is something that I have not seen for a long time.

But if you could have a wild animal as a pet? Those that attract so many of our attention, what would it be? I have thought about it a lot at some point in my life, although I am not a fan nor am I someone who approves of the domestication of wild animals (in fact there are some that can be domesticated and it is done). After some thought and a look through the encyclopedia I decided to show you three wild animals that I would definitely have as pets if I could.

Mi ave favorita y en general mi animal favorito, siempre me ha encantado la idea de un halcón como mascota, son majestuosos e imponentes, pero a su vez son súper lindos y a pesar de que su tamaño es considerablemente grande para un ave mascota, no son enormes aves como los cóndores o las águilas. Además son aves con mucho papel protagónico los distintos acontecimientos de la historia humana.

Un dato curioso es que el halcón peregrino es el ave más veloz que existe, puede alcanzar cuatrocientos kilómetros por hora cuando se precipita en picada hacia sus presas ¡CUATROCIENTOS KILOMETROS! Si fuera del tamaño de un automóvil sería un Ferrari y estaríamos muy aterrados porque ni en automóvil podrías escapar de algo así.

Otro dato, Shan Yu el villano de Mulan en las películas de Disney tiene un halcón peregrino como mascota. Esto tiene mucha historia pues fue un ave muy preciada en Asia Central.

En la Segunda Guerra Mundial se utilizaron halcones (el halcón peregrino era especialmente letal) para interceptar palomas mensajeras. También en algunos lugares son de uso alternativo para controlar plagas de animales que dañan cultivos en los campos, sin duda no solo es tierno y letal, también muy útil. Actualmente se encuentran en peligro crítico de extinción, pero su población se ha logrado recuperar con el paso de los años.

My favorite bird and in general my favorite animal, I have always loved the idea of a hawk as a pet, they are majestic and imposing, but at the same time they are super cute and although their size is considerably large for a pet bird, they are not huge birds like condors or eagles. They are also birds that have played a leading role in the different events of human history.

A curious fact is that the peregrine falcon is the fastest bird that exists, it can reach four hundred kilometers per hour when it swoops towards its prey, FOUR HUNDRED KILOMETERS! If it were the size of a car, it would be a Ferrari and we would be terrified because not even in a car could you escape from something like that.

In World War II, falcons (the peregrine falcon was especially lethal) were used to intercept carrier pigeons. They are also used in some places as an alternative to control animal pests that damage crops in the fields, certainly not only tender and lethal, but also very useful. They are currently in critical danger of extinction, but their population has managed to recover over the years.

Si hay un animal que me parece de lo más tierno y me encantaría abrazar todo el día es sin duda la nutría marina, es la especie más estudiada de nutria, y en mi opinión la más linda, todo lo que hacen lo hacen parecer tierno, recuerdo que de pequeño veía documentales enteros sobre este animal porque me parecía súper tierno y odiaba que otros animales como las orcas se los comieran.

Un dato interesante es que son de los pocos animales que usan herramientas para tomar su comida, se alimentas de pequeños peces, de almejas, mejillones y cochas marinas; utilizan piedras y otros objetos para abrir almejas. También tienen tendencia a utilizar los muelles y puertos como “guardería” para sus crías ya que los consideran seguros.

Pasan horas y horas acicalándose, lavándose y limpiándose el pelo, su pelaje es muy importante y es uno de los más densos del reino animal Me encantan las nutrias son demasiado lindas no puedo seguir hablando de ellas, renuncio.

Últimamente ha habido una tendencia en redes sociales por domesticar a esta clase de animales, particularmente no creo que sean buenas mascotas pero de que existe esta tendencia existe.

If there is an animal that I find the cutest and I would love to hug all day long is undoubtedly the sea otter, it is the most studied species of otter, and in my opinion the cutest, everything they do they make it look cute, I remember as a kid I watched entire documentaries about this animal because I found it super cute and I hated that other animals like orcas ate them.

An interesting fact is that they are one of the few animals that use tools to take their food; they feed on small fish, clams, mussels and sea shells; they use stones and other objects to open clams. They also tend to use docks and harbors as "nurseries" for their young because they consider them safe.

They spend hours and hours grooming, washing and cleaning their fur, their fur is very important and is one of the densest in the animal kingdom I love otters they are too cute I can't keep talking about them, I quit.

Lately there has been a trend in social networks to domesticate this kind of animals, I don't particularly think they are good pets but this trend exists.

La primera vez que vi a este pequeño animalito en Youtube quedé encantado y me comí cientos y cientos de videos acerca de esta especie de ardilla, las ardillas ya de por sí me encantan, en especial estas a las que llaman “ardilla voladora” pero esta es demasiado tierna y provoca acariciarla todo el día.

Debido a su aspecto no me extrañaría que fueran mascotas en algún lugar o momento de nuestra existencia ¡Miren que adorables son!

The first time I saw this little animal on Youtube I was enchanted and I ate hundreds and hundreds of videos about this species of squirrel, I love squirrels already, especially these that are called "flying squirrel" but this one is too cute and makes me pet it all day long.

Because of their appearance I wouldn't be surprised if they were pets at some place or time in our existence. Look how adorable they are!
