He is Waldo Aurelio, a short-legged friend, who was born to a mother named Kaia and an unknown father of Caribbean origin, some say that his father was a libertine dog, lawless, so he never assumed any responsibility.
El es Waldo Aurelio, un amigo de patas cortas, que nació de una mamá llamada Kaia y un padre desconocido de origen caribeño, dicen algunos que su padre era un perro libertino, sin ley, por lo que él jamás asumió ninguna responsabilidad.
All this happened on November 9, 2004 and although I was not present at his birth, Waldo was sent by plane to the city of Bogota and from there I brought him by bus to San Juan de Pasto.
Todo esto ocurrió un 9 de noviembre, del año 2004 y aunque no estuve presente en su nacimiento, Waldo fue enviado por avión hasta la ciudad de Bogotá y de ahí lo traje en bus hasta San Juan de Pasto.

Waldo desde que llegó fue muy mimado, todos estábamos encantados con sus cortas patas y su tierna cara, aunque debo admitir, que desde un principio el buen Waldo Aurelio, mostró ser un chico con temperamento fuerte, cada vez que algo le molestaba, gruñía y abría los ojos, dejando ver que iba a atacar con su feroz mordida.
When the vet sent him medicines, we had to hide the pills among bread, but when he discovered that among the bread came a bitter pill, everything changed and I had to be more innovative, as they say now, I had to reinvent myself to be able to give him his medicines, so I started to hide his pills among pieces of sausage, meat, ham, bread soaked in meat broth; it was not easy, but the mission was accomplished.
Cuando el veterinario le enviaba medicamentos, debíamos esconder las pastillas entre pan, pero, cuando descubrió que entre el pan venía una amarga pastilla, todo cambio y debí ser más novedosa, como dicen ahora, debí reinventarme para poderle dar sus medicinas, así que empecé a esconder sus pastillas entre trozos de salchicha, carne, jamón, pan mojado en caldo de carne; no era fácil, pero, se lograba la misión.
One day, for work reasons, I had to travel to the city of Bogota and Waldo Aurelio stayed with his grandparents, it took me a while to return and when I opened the door and saw my dog, I was amazed, because he was very fat, so imagine the scene: a fat dog, long, short legs, it was like seeing a tamale walking ha, ha, ha, ha.
Un día, por cuestiones laborales, debí viajar a la ciudad de Bogotá y Waldo Aurelio se quedó con sus abuelos, tardé en regresar y cuando abrí la puerta y vi a mi perro, quedé asombrada, porque estaba muy gordo, así que imaginen la escena: un perro gordo, largo, de patas cortas, era como ver un tamal andando ja, ja, ja.
This caused him his first health problems, because of pain in his spine. Fortunately for those of us who have pets, they come already concentrated for these characteristics, so he began to be given a special food to lose weight, I took him for a walk and in a matter of a year he lost 6 kilos and recovered his shape.
Esto le ocasionó sus primeros problemas de salud, por dolor en la columna. Por fortuna para quienes tenemos animales de compañía, ya vienen concentrados para estas características, así que se le empezó a dar un alimento especial para bajar de peso, lo sacaba a caminar y en cuestión de un año bajó 6 kilos y recuperó su forma.
His life passed happily, we went for walks, he ate, slept, we all spoiled him a lot, but the geriatric age came, where many things begin to fail, so again we began to manage other medicated concentrates, because he had bladder problems, also a heart murmur, a mass in the vessel; but despite everything, he was still there, always with us. The year 2018, was very difficult, because the pain in his spine returned, several times he was given medication and it was solved, but at the end of that year, nothing seemed to work anymore and every time the medication was withdrawn, the pain did not allow him to walk.
Su vida trascurrió feliz, salíamos a caminar, comía, dormía, todos los mimábamos mucho, pero llega la edad geriátrica, donde empiezan muchas cosas a fallar, así que nuevamente empezamos a manejar otros concentrados medicados, porque tenia problemas en la vejiga, también un soplo en el corazón, una masa en el vaso; pero a pesar de todo, el seguía ahí, siempre con nosotros. El año 2018, fue muy difícil, porque regresó el dolor en su columna, varias veces se le dio medicación y se solucionaba, pero a finales de ese año, parecía ya nada funcionar y cada vez que se le retiraba la medicación, el dolor no le permitía caminar.
The vet prescribed him with medicines that had Cannabis, at first it worked, but after a few weeks everything got worse. We thought he would not spend Christmas with us, but, with a cocktail of pain medications, he got well and had a good improvement, until the first days of March 2019, when one night I heard a very strange noise and when I checked Waldo, I found him convulsing. He was immediately attended by the vets who always treated him, but Waldo had too much liver damage.
El veterinario lo recetó con medicamentos que tenían Cannabis, al principio funciono, pero tras unas semanas todo empeoro. Pensamos que no pasaría navidad junto a nosotros, pero, con un coctel de medicamentos para el dolor, se puso bien y tuvo una buena mejoría, hasta los primeros días de marzo del 2019, cuando una noche escuché un ruido muy raro y al revisar a Waldo, lo encontré convulsionando. Inmediatamente fue atendido por los veterinarios que siempre lo trataron, pero Waldo tenía un daño hepático demasiado fuerte.
My little dog, he would no longer stand, he was in pain, his liver damaged, kidney stones, heart murmur and although I wanted him to be eternal I understood that he was going to be eternal in my memories and with my love, but that I had to let him rest so that he would not suffer. And on March 17, 2019, a Sunday, the vet came to my house and after a sigh, his heart stopped forever... forever in his body, because I am sure that in heaven, it beats strongly every day.
Mi perrito, ya no se paraba, estaba con dolor, su hígado dañado, cálculos renales, soplo en el corazón y aunque yo quería que fuera eterno entendí que iba a ser eterno en mis recuerdos y con mi amor, pero que debía dejarlo descansar para que no sufriera. Y el 17 de marzo del 2019, un domingo, la veterinaria llegó a mi casa y tras un suspiro, su corazón se detuvo para siempre… para siempre en su cuerpo, porque yo estoy segura que en el cielo, late con fuerza todos los días.

finish this story, I tell you that Waldito was cremated in Cielo Animal, a cemetery and cremation oven for pets in the city. My best friend gave me the cremation as a gift, because she knew how important Waldo was to me.
Para terminar esta historia, les cuento que a Waldito lo cremamos en Cielo Animal, un cementerio y horno crematorio que hay para animales de compañía en la ciudad, mi mejor amiga, me regaló la cremación, pues ella sabía lo importante que era Waldo para mi.
