Ayer por la mañana mi hermano y yo nos dimos cuenta que Ying se sentía mal y caminaba con dificultad. Nos alarmamos porque el está recién castrado y el miedo que teníamos se hizo realidad. Una de sus ex bolitas se inflamó muchísimo a tal punto de casi explotar. Yo sospechaba que se trataba de una infección, ya que era inevitable que Ying se lamiera.
Yesterday morning my brother and I realized that Ying was feeling ill and walking with difficulty. We are alarmed because he is just castrated and the fear that we had has come true. One of his former balls became extremely inflamed to the point of almost exploding. I suspected it was an infection, since it was inevitable that Ying licked himself.
Preocupada llamo a la Veterinaria pero no me contestaba, gracias a Dios ella me devolvió la llamada y le pude explicar la situación. Ella muy amablemente me dice que puede atenderme pero a horas de la tarde. Yo estaba más calmada al saber que podría atenderme pero me preocupaba que cada hora que pasaba Ying se quejaba más.
Concerned, I called the Veterinarian but she did not answer me, thank God she called me back and I was able to explain the situation. She very kindly tells me that she can attend me but in the afternoon. I was calmer knowing that she could attend to me but I was worried that with every hour that passed Ying complained more.
También me preocupaba cómo llevar a Ying porque tristemente los domingos son más difíciles de conseguir un medio de trasporte y más en las tardes. Por suerte una amiga me había prestado una bicicleta la cual tenía una cesta lo bastante grande como para llevar a mi gatito, solo debía asegurarme de colocar algo que funcionara como tapa para evitar que saliera y poder llevarlo tranquila.
I was also concerned about how to get to Ying because sadly on Sundays it is more difficult to find a means of transportation and more in the afternoons. Luckily a friend had lent me a bicycle which had a basket big enough to carry my kitten, I just had to make sure to put something that would work as a lid to prevent it from coming out and to be able to carry it calmly.
Y así como ven en la fotografía fue como improvise un transportador en bici. Gracias a Dios Ying estuvo tranquilo todo el viaje. Al llegar a la veterinaria estaba cerrada, así que tuve que esperar a que la doctora llegara. Después de media hora la Doctora llegó y atendió a Ying. Para nuestra sorpresa cuando ella intenta sacarlo de la cesta Ying se alteró a tal punto de casi caerse de sus brazos. Ahí nos dimos cuenta de las sospechas que teníamos, pues cuando hizo un movimiento brusco para escapar repentinamente donde estaba inflamado comenzó a salir pus y sangre. Se le había infectado mucho y la doctora tubo que exprimir y drenarlo.
And as you can see in the photograph, it was how I improvised a bike transporter. Thank goodness Ying was calm the whole trip. When I got to the vet, it was closed, so I had to wait for the doctor to arrive. After half an hour the Doctor arrived and attended to Ying. To our surprise when she tried to remove it from the basket Ying freaked out to the point of almost falling from her arms. There we realized the suspicions we had, because when he made a sudden movement to escape suddenly where he was inflamed, pus and blood began to come out. It had become very infected and the doctor had to squeeze and drain it.
Yo me preocupé, pues resulta que sin querer le apliqué mal el antibiótico y me sentí culpable de ello. Pues sé que las infecciones en los gatos son muy propensas. La doctora le aplicó una inyección pata el dolor y me explicó cómo administrarle bien el antibiótico.
I was concerned, as it turns out that I accidentally misapplied the antibiotic and felt guilty about it. Well I know that infections in cats are very prone. The doctor gave him an injection for the pain and explained how to administer the antibiotic properly.
Con lágrimas en los ojos me fui a mi casa con mi gatito. Sintiéndome culpable llegué a mi casa y le aplique la cantidad correcta de antibiótico y lo deje descansar. Después le limpié nuevamente la herida. Lo que me tenía aliviada es saber que no le dio fiebre ni nada y su apetito estaba normal.
With tears in my eyes I went home with my kitten. Feeling guilty I came home and applied the correct amount of antibiotic to him and let him rest. Then I cleaned the wound again. What relieved me is knowing that she didn't get a fever or anything and her appetite was normal.
Gracias a Dios en la mañana siguiente la inflación ya había bajado, solo debemos estar pendiente de administrar bien el antibiótico y mantener la herida limpia. Pero mi sentimiento de culpa aún lo tengo y me siento muy triste por eso. Solo espero que se mejore.
Thank God the next morning inflation had already dropped, we just have to be careful to administer the antibiotic well and keep the wound clean. But I still have my guilt and I feel very sad about it. I just hope it gets better.
