Made it with canva

Hello everyone, today I want to share my participation to a contest promoted by the HivePets community, which basically is about telling a beautiful memory we have of a pet that is no longer with us, and although I had already talked about it in my first post when I started in this community, I am going to talk about other wonderful memories I have of the first pet I had since I started my new life together with my wife. Also, this contest comes to me just the same day that our beloved milo passed away since he passed away on December 2nd of last year, so I will make this publication as an anniversary to remember a friend who left an indelible mark in our hearts.... If you want to participate in this contest I leave the link here:

Stories Of Our Little Angels CONTEST

you have the opportunity to participate until April 09th.

Stories Of Our Little Angels CONTEST

My whole story with Milo started back in April of last year, my wife and I had been moving to a new place for 2 months and since we felt insecure we decided to adopt a puppy to warn us of danger at night and to keep us company. And I remember that the first offer to adopt a puppy was one that had appeared one day to a neighbor, but the puppy was sick because its abdomen was swollen by parasites, probably it was taken from its mother too early and did not develop the necessary defenses to avoid the parasites.

My wife and I were doubtful if we wanted to adopt him since he was sick and we didn't want him to die soon, but his face looked sad and full of suffering since he had almost no fur due to bad feeding and he also had some scabs on his head probably because someone had hit him. So we decided to give him a chance and we named him Milo, as TinTin's puppy because we thought he would be a good companion, and there was no doubt about it.

Milo was growing and growing very fast after we gave him proper food, gave him the necessary medicines and gave him a lot of love, I would say more than a dog could need, because every time I could I played with him, either running around the house or training him to give me his paw. Milo liked all kinds of food, but his favorite were cattle viceras with rice, I remember one day I had bought him 1 kilo of beef lung and by accident I dropped a piece on the floor and Milo immediately came running and started to eat it, but he started to choke because the piece was bigger than his head, that was the first time we saved him from certain death. Another thing that I remember very fondly was when I would give him food, as we gave him 3 times a day in small portions, he already knew which were the times when it was his turn to eat and he would start dancing for us to serve him the food or he would act as if he was watching the house beating in front of the door and that way he would be justifying his food hahaha.

I also remember that what Milo liked the most was to be held as if he was a baby, I remember that while I was working or sitting reading or watching TV, he wanted to be in my lap and rest his head against my shoulder, when he did that he would sleep for up to 2 hours. I also remember when I would play the guitar to make a video on 3speak and he was my biggest fan because he would stare at me and when it was already 3pm and it was very hot, I would play Nocturne Op9 No. 2 on guitar because I knew he liked it and it was his sleep music.

Another thing that Milo did was to detect me from a distance, because when I was coming home and I still had 2 blocks to go, my wife would say that Milo would stand in front of the door and beat and jump for joy, that way my wife also knew that I was near, and when she heard my steps in front of the door she would lay down on the floor on her paws up for me to caress her little belly.

Another very nice memory of Milo was his Bone collections, because after every soup we made there were hard beef bones and as he was a growing dog, a veterinarian friend recommended us to give him that kind of bones as it would help with his teeth and give him the necessary calcium, because Milo sometimes ate dirty rocks, we gave him several bones so he wouldn't get sick again with parasites before his next dose of deworming.

A somewhat unpleasant but funny memory I have of Milo, is that when we let him sleep inside the house due to heavy storms, we put hundreds of recycled papers to make it easier to pick up his waste, but what a surprise we had when in the morning we saw that he had pooped just between the spaces that had the leaves, so we had to clean everything anyway....

But in spite of so many beautiful memories of Milo, something that I never realized was that unfortunately I could not continue living those memories in person every day, since he left my side very quickly and suddenly, because it was in a matter of hours that his health deteriorated and I didn't even have time to take him to a veterinarian who could take better care of him.

I remember that day, Milo would not stop sleeping and he had lost the joy he normally had, I thought it was because he resented me and my wife because we stopped giving him dog food because it was too expensive, and that day the first of December he did not eat breakfast nor did he want to eat lunch, he just slept and slept, we began to worry because he had not even drunk any water that day, and as it was very hot we gave him water through a syringe because he was very dehydrated. But everything went from bad to worse since he couldn't even get up by himself and any movement we made to help him he would wail in pain. In fact this black and white photo was one of the last I could take of him and it was a week before we lost him.

From December 1st until December 2nd my wife and I were in constant jubilation because we did not know when would be the last time we would pet our companion, and as Milo was constantly agonizing and complaining with a lot of pain even to breathe, we could not sleep well. The most painful moment came on 01 at 10:48 PM when my wife and I were saying goodbye to Milo because we knew that at any moment we could lose him, it was so painful to say how he had made us feel and what a good dog he had been and all the happy moments he had given us, I think that when we adopted him we never really felt the idea that we would lose him and I think that no one thinks about it, because when we see so much love everything else is forgotten.

After saying goodbye the next day on December 2nd our dear friend fought to the last and gave his last breath and passed away, it was really terrible to hear that last scream because it filled us with so much pain, knowing that there would be no one to wait for me when I arrived, there would be no one to dance when we gave him food, there would be no one to fall asleep to hear my songs, milo would not be there anymore....

When we buried him it was even more terrible, my hands were not enough to take a shovel and dig a hole, but with a lot of courage and strength and help from my brother-in-law, my wife and I were able to bury our friend, if you look at this publication Visiting our dear Milo, we gave him the best place that he liked, because in many afternoons he used to lose 2 hours to go to the hill that we have behind our house, now Milo can have the best view that he likes the most....

Thank you for simply being (2).png

Thank you very much for reading this post, if you are wondering if we tried to help Milo, well yes, but as we were in strict quarantine there was no vet around and our neighbor was traveling, so we didn't know what to do.... All the pictures are my property and the stories are taken from my personal facebook...
